Yeah, I reckin it all depends on how old you are, & what music you listened to when you were young.
At my age, I grew up listening to the mid to late '50's "Rock & Roll", with singers like Elvis & Chuck Berry, on up thru the '60's, with all the surfin songs & car songs, as well as the good Motown stuff, & on into the late '60's stuff, & even on into some of the early '70's stuff. Loved the CCR stuff. Loved songs like "Born to be Wild" & Magic Carpet Ride. I even liked some of the wilder stuff like some of the Jimi Hendrix songs, and some other stuff that had the distorted guitar sounds in it. After that, the heavy metal & stuff got too nasty for me. Bob Seger sorta summed it up, for me, in the late '70's, with this song. There is a currently running commercial that uses this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoaAb5MnKtY Seeing the pic of Bob Seger just reminded me. Pontiac racer Brent Flynn plays in a a rock band. And to me, with his hair down, he looks a lot like that Bob Seger pic. How bout a little Mitch Ryder ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrOv...9JAf3g&index=1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMPDA7L2lCc Loved the songs with lots of organ music. IIRC, they didn't have the fancy keyboards, at 1st. They used Hammond B3 organs, with Leslie rotating speakers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5fI3X9BdrQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4WiyxXpyZc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMbATaj7Il8 Last edited by ponyakr; 02-22-2020 at 09:21 PM. |

Anybody else like the organ & keyboard music in the '60's R&R stuff ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko3m0NBbq1o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7uC5m-IRns https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lHSQaijjbA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1PNvopXjbg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0vCwGUZe1I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oox9bJaGJ8 Vanilla Fudge & Creme did some of the wildest stuff that I could get into. Most of it was too far out there for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cft60HYb7Fs By the late '60's & early '70's I'd even started listening to country, back when it was REALLY country. I mean like Hank Williams, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, George & Tammy, & Dolly Parton country. In the mid '90's i got into classic Cajun music. Here's a song I like, by a country singer, backed by a Cajun band. Maybe some of ya'll remember it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuapCENFM2U Last edited by ponyakr; 02-22-2020 at 10:57 PM. |

I have been into artists doing covers, and I ran across a couple of different artists that are simply amazing, one is guitarist Andrei Cerbu who is Romanian, he is with a group called Iron Cross and he does amazing covers as well as original music, and he has a couple of different female singers he performs with that I think people will love. Another is is Alyona Yarushina, you need to search them out, I think you will be entertained.

Live from Daryl's house is the best! Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates has a little bit of everybody on there at one time or another. I like a lot of the stuff on there even more than the original.

Scuzz Twittly has put out a couple good country songs I like, and I'm a rock & roll guy. Maybe it's the women in his videos that have me hooked.

YouTube gives you great concert seats for free!
I like anything Big Head Todd This Oregon station (KINK) has a great series of live recordings: Bittersweet This Zep tribute at Kennedy Center Honors is impressive Heart- Stairway to Heaven Another big production Heart - Alone This 2017 Outside Lands concert is awesome if you were a Who fan. Pete Townsend's commentary is entertainingly snide - "you're wet and we're not...and you're young and we're not young..." and "I don't want to give you a history lesson.. most of you weren't even born...f'ing seriously" The Who Outside Lands Eric Clapton Crossroads Blues Festival videos are all good Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks - Had to Cry Today Tedeschi Trucks - Anyday |
