I know this is a few years after you posted this, but I just came across this. I read an article in the short lived Pontiac Enthusiast magazine about the Gay Pontiac RA V Firebirds. It was quite a while ago, but I distinctly remember that Gay Pontiac got five RA V 428 motors and installed them in Firebirds. When the article was written, I believe they said that there was one, maybe two known to still exist. Maybe it was only one. My ex, out of spite, threw away all of my saved car magazines while I was on deployment to the Persian Gulf and that one went with all the others. I wish I could find that magazine again. The car was on the cover, if I remember correctly and it was Carousel Red, like you said. At the time of the article, the car was up for sale, so I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it is in someone's collection somewhere. Good luck finding it! That would be an incredible car to own.

The car was originally a RAIV with automatic trans in carousel red from the factory. Somewhere, I have a copy of the PHS for it, as I was the person who got Rick, Don, and Pete all together for that article. As far as I know, Rick still owns it. BTW...... the Gay's only got two RAV 428s. One went into said car for street duty, and the other into one of the funny cars.

Thank you. It was a job. I would have stayed in longer had the military not been drawing down. I reached high year tenure at 20 years and had to go. Miss it and all of those I served with. I have a '69 Firebird 400/4sp car that's getting restored right now. Can't wait to get it back on the road!

Very cool you should post progress pics of the restoration I know I’d at least be interested in seeing it and I’m sure others would as well
Stephen Pontiac used to sell 500HP RAV engines over the counter and would install them in your car as well I have some of the advertising for it They even did TV ads with their race cars, I wish Inhad a way find a way to find copies of the TV ads from back then their RAV pro stocker was in some of the TV commercials. No idea how to find those old ads if they still exist. Have called the dealership with no luck Sometimes I wonder if local TV stations may have saved that sort of thing in archives.
