Aluminum tri power intake?
Did pontiac ever offer the manifold in aluminum, or is that an aftermarket deal only?

3x2 aluminum intake
I'm assuming you meant to ask if they offered a 3x2 aluminum intake for a 66?
No. No, they did not. There are some aftermarket ones floating around, but not ones from the factory. |

There are a couple of versions of the 66 tripower intakes.
Version 1, about 200-300 made in the USA under the guidance of Steve Scheitinger. Perfect fit and finish. Maybe a slight change to a casting number to avoid the wrath of GM. I bought 2 of them from him directly. Version 2. Parts Place- Made in Taiwan. I've heard bad comments, but never used one or looked at it closely. |

AL TriPowers
Be advised that there is an absolutely huge difference in the quality/appearance of the first run domestic vs the later offshore imported aluminum TriPower intakes, as Andre posted.
I sent my beautiful first run USA made intake to Dave Wilcox for some extensive porting many years ago, and there was a mix up- he actually sent me back a Taiwan made piece of crap. When I opened the box I was shocked. He swore up & down that was definitely the intake I sent him- and the only way I was able to finally prove that it was not was that the pics I had taken prior to shipping it to him. The casting dates are different between the two versions. He was forced to own up to the mistake, and he was able to get my intake back from the guy he sent it to. That guy must've been overjoyed when he first opened his box- and really bummed when he had to send it back and get his original piece of crap intake back. The first intake Dave sent back was ugly as hell- a disgusting mottled coloring and a very, very rough casting finish. Dave had only done minimal port work, and not separated the crossover to it. Closest I've ever had to having a heart attack when I opened that box up...

Good info. I will tale a closer look when my friends intake is back from the machine shop. Here are a couple of photos I took to keep track of linkage... can't really see the intake very well, but how does it compare to yours?
