Default Our Grandson

Recently, we went down to MCAS New River (NC), to see our grandson graduate from his advanced Marine training as a crew chief for the MV-22 Osprey. Got to see him get his wings and a thorough tour of the MV-22.

He learned a week before graduation that he will be assigned to the VMM 262 - Flying Tigers in Okinawa.

He got engaged in June they hadn't set a date. Got a call last night that the wedding (a very small ceremony for siblings, parents, grandparents, maid of honor and best man) will be Tuesday, December 14th.

Yes, I said Tuesday. He's on Christmas leave before reporting to Okinawa and by getting married now it will expedite his fiancé's ability to join him overseas.

Reminded me that 48 years and 11 months ago, Mrs. Champ and I got married on a Tuesday also, while I was home on Christmas leave.

I hope the kids have as wonderful a life as Mrs. Champ and I have!

Yes Congrat's on both! I would have loved to have worked on MV-22's, but they were 35 or so years in the future when I was in.

The Osprey is either a really fast helicopter (top speed about 350 MPH) or a real slow plane....

In true helicopter mode, top speed is really only about 90 MPH.

Thanks to all! He's come a long way since the photo below taken about 22 years ago....
