Oh that's sad to hear.
I still have my "Beck-Ola" LP I bought in 1969? It and "Truth" were more than influential in a good way. "Blow by Blow" was played continuously, maybe 1975, as I drove my Fairlane back and forth between Leadville and Denver every weekend. Those albums are not buried deep. Darn, what a loss... |

Awe Geez! He seemed pale in the recent Youtube videos of the Tour. But now we know he was declining fast.
I played the "Blow by Blow" record (along with Procol Harim, etc) in the Garage while welding the Exhaust. Jeff Beck just died, from bacterial meningitis. no link, no profound words. Just Truth, Blow by Blow, rock my plimsoul, Beckola. Last edited by Half-Inch Stud; 01-11-2023 at 08:43 PM. |

Tremendously Talented .
I would have wished he would have landed in a band that would have made him more of a household name, and more money. He did okay , but was deserving of the type career and fortune as the other top talents of his period. RiP Beck |

So Very Sad!
He is one of my all time favorite guitarists, an amazing talent & one of us when it comes to cars. He had quite a collection & was visible at many big car events over the years. It saddens me to not have been able to see him perform in person, The other would have been Gary Moore! R.I.P. Jeff God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/

I wore out my "Truth" album from playing it so much when it first came out. He was one of the few guitar players I admired and enjoyed listening to throughout the years. Plus the fact he was also a car guy who enjoyed working on his own cats. RIP Jeff

Gifted guitarist. what a shame.
Many musicians own/drive/collect nice cars, but Jeff was one of the few I know of who was a true gearhead. Saw an interview years back that showed him with his cars explaining the builds, much of which he had done himself. Every time I've seen him interviewed he always came off as a 'real' person.

This is so sad. He was the best of the best in my book. I only wish I could have seen him a one of his concerts. RIP sir. You will be missed by many.
When it's my turn, I hope I can get to meet him on the "other side".

I was so saddened to hear of his passing. I bought his album "Wired" in the 70's.
I've enjoyed watching his live performances on Youtube. He liked to hand over the spotlight to his very talented and beautiful bass player Tal Wilkenfeld. You can see his admiration as he watches her play. He was a genuine person and it wasn't all about him. R.I.P. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25q8nWZQGaQ |

I was fortunate to see him at Madison Square Garden back in the day. It was a benefit concert IIRC. He absolutely SMOKED "Freeway Jam." Think I'll go out in the garage tonight & crank that up in his honor.

There's an interesting documentary about Jeff Beck's early years on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kyqEFwrZNo It covers his youth, his time with the Yardbirds, and the period shortly thereafter.
