Hood spring fitment
Will hood springs for a 60’s gto or firebird fit our big cars? I can’t seem to find hood springs that list they will fit an actual Catalina.

There's a guy "Randy Condon" that is parting a 66 Catalina. Look him up on facebook.

I tried searching for this part number and maybe there is something I’m missing, but couldn’t find anything? Or were you suggesting to buy a whole new hinge setup?

Buy a whole new hinge. If the spring is bad, most likely the hinge is binding.

I didn’t realize Ames sells them new and I also found a salvage yard in Arizona that sells them for $50/pair |

Not to hijack too badly, but: I'm sure the hinges on mine are ovalled out - has anyone had good luck with a rebuilder for these?
Thanks! |

Our '65 Catalina wagon was without hood springs when we purchased it. Bought two new ones from Ames and they do exactly what they should when lifting the hood and allowing it to stay up.
Our club has used Roland on rebuilt A-body hinges and I don't see why he wouldn't do as good of job on the B-body hinges: Hood Hinge Restoration Roland Hall 1901 Jackson Street Burbank CA 818-845-3574
