Picking Up An Original Survivor 1957 Pontiac Starchief Today With 18K Original Mile….
Rained all yesterday here
in Central Indiana so I couldn’t pick up … I am on my way now to pick up a running and driving 1957 Pontiac Starchief that has 18K original miles along with original tires and wheels. Found stored in a barn. New owner has been looking for one since he was a kid … I plan on doing a video with the Seller about the background of the car and how he came to find it along with my usual walk around video I take at pick up before loading up. Will post the background video on my YouTube channel and post link here on this thread …. Jim

Very cool. I wonder what the back story is on the car, why it was put away with so few miles on the clock.

Here We Go …
What a great morning … Let’s start with Brian’ s 1967 GTO that he spent eight years personally restoring - look carefully at the car cover - it is period correct ! Jim

Good looking car. The original owner was looking for some style, what with the fender skirts, sun visor and continental kit for the spare tire on the back. I took the liberty of posting a screen grab from the video:
One minor comment...the tires may be old but I don't think they're original, narrow whitewalls didn't show up as factory equipment until 1962. |

Radial Tires
The Seller thought the tires were
original but my guess is early 70’s. The external sunvisor is very rare. The Seller was offered 5K for the visor. Jim

Just from the picture, the little "pooch" in the bottom of the tires looks like a radial tire.

Lovely old car, Love the colour too.
But WHY WHY WHY are these "restorers" so damn lazy and cheap that they have to paint over the door locks and screws. Makes a big deal that they repaired the only bit of rust on the car but could not reach for the masking tape Ian
