I have been looking for full length D-port headers (1-3/4 to 2" primary tube full length) for a 73 firebird. and i come up blank. is there really no one making stainless headers that is not a DIY kit? i have found one: https://www.stainlessheaders.com/pon...der-build-kits
But that is a DIY kit and i have no welding skills or equipment to do any of that.

Only other choice is custom made. GP Headers can copy some existing plain steel headers. About 1500-2K.

They look Awsome! got about 10 years out of my cheap headman headers, got 1 hole at the start of the season, fixed it with a stainless steel bandclamp lined with fireplace insulation strips. 5 days ago another hole, Time to replace them before they fall apart.

Wow, they started doing SS? Interesting.
Sadly, the last 2 sets of the A-body Doug's round ports I got had quality issues, fitment, and the collector exists were uneven. I forget if it were Hookers or Headmans I had the passenger side hung lower, but that's what made me move over to Dougs. I had some OBX ones, and although they could be 'made' to work, I didn't have the time or resources to do so, and moved on. I need a pair of headers for the tribute car, that's the set that the collectors are uneven. I already welded the X pipe section, so will have to do a whole exhaust once I reach that point. Uhg. .

Well here i am back again in this thread, i finally orderd these headers, they are now at customs clerance into norway, just forked out 360 bucks in tax, and they should be here shorty.
The car is in storage, but there migth be chance i can get it out and take it to work. Started a new job as a car salesman for a major german brand 6 months ago, so i now have access to a fully equipped shop with all kinds of lifts. i just hope the weather holds for driving the car back/forth. While i am there i also plan on supporting the rest of the exhaust system, it is not welded but clamped together with walker band clamps, to be honest they have been doing a great job holding the system together. Latley the mufflers have started to sag and rotate so my ground clerance is pretty bad. i plan on tucking the mufflers close to the floorboards and supporting them with additional hangers and rubber isolators. My concern is having the mufflers close to the floorboards migth put too much heat trough the floorboards and "melt" the carpets inside. Do anyone have experience with universal heatshield? migth be a good idea to preform som heatshields with backing and somehow fasten them to the underside of the floorboards where the mufflers will be.

The 2" Dougs I have on the tribute car are terrible, and in order to swap out lower control arms you need to drop the headers.
I bought a set of the 1 7/8 headers and they look much better than the 2" ones. I have a new X pipe kit that will have to be used when I do the swap. I am almost to the point that I will do that swap. IMO, avoid the Dougs 2" headers. .

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They look nice, but i think i should do a gasket match to make sure there is no partial blocking of the exhaust ports, Weather is nuts, looking for a weekend with "normal" weather.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Finally got to it, some bashing of passengerside, i was on a 2 post lift, i probably could have avoided the bashing by lifting the motor, but attaching an engine hoist while on a 2 post even if i could do that would possibly upset the weigth balance while on the lift. I did not want to do that. My old headmans where more forgiving in hooking up the collector reducers to the rest of the system due to them having a ball&socket collector reducer and i could angle the tips to the x-pipe legs. here i had to take down everyting from the mufflers and forward, cut of about 1" of the muffler side x-pipe, and add about 6" between the x-pipe and collector reducers. i got it in and it is leak free as far as i can hear now, but i added more joints and clamps that i have barined for. over all i am content for a season or 2 before i rethink the rest of the system. atleast it is all stainless now. as a bonus i got my bangin headligths installed and adjusted. that was a world of difference in ligth. But not without modification to the headligth buckets and the headligths them selves, but that was expected as it is stated on the website that some GM cars need to have buckets modified.

My 2" Hookers make it hard to get the lower A arm low enough to get front springs out swapping springs.
