70 TA muffler
My attempt to install a 70 TA muffler on my engine test stand was unsuccessful. The muffler is a few inches wider than the aftermarket replacement cross flow muffler I am currently using. Because of the width difference I couldn't use the existing brackets I made to mount a muffler.
I'm curious if the "6 70 A" is a date code? Also is it possible the tail pipes were welded at the factory? |

Quite rare to see even a rusty old one original like you have. My '70 had already had a muffler replacement as it was dated '76. At least it was a GM replacement. |

Agree with what is posted above. Here's images of the original Oldberg 3 70 A one I have. The rear pipes are wended on like those above.
What's the replacement part number for the 1970 dual exhaust cross flow muffler?

This is the muffler I use now. The case is about 2.5" narrower that the factory muffler. It came from a 73 TA.

I have an Oldberg unit, dated '71, just like yours. Tail pipes also welded on. I'll post pics later.
