Maybe the rear car pushed the van on top of the Pontiac. Had to be a hard hit.

You know the van probably had a sign that said: "Don't Laugh it might be your daughter in here!".

Well it was the car driver's wife in there and was getting revenge?

The van fell off an overpass or viaduct.

Exclamation

The ‘57 Chevy slammed into the back of the VW bus which is a fairly lightweight vehicle. This particular type is outfitted as a camper with a subhatch cut into the roof so it’s probably around 2600 pounds, easily a thousand pounds lighter than the Chevy.

Those old Westfalia camper conversions were built off of a basic panel bus which weighed a scant 2200 pounds since they’re basically an empty box.

The bus being lightweight with higher ground clearance was shoved into the Tempest and it popped up while being shoved by the Chevy. The heavy damage on the back of the Tempest was caused by the front of the Chevy impacting it hard, after that the bus settled back down onto the front of the Chevy.

Must’ve really been something to see, that’s a crazy and unusual end result.

A buddy of mine sold his 1962 very nicely restored 23 window Deluxe Samba bus several years ago for 160k so definitely if in cherry condition big $$$.

He sold it to an acquaintance rather than go to the trouble of advertising it so I’m sure he left some money on the table.

It’s the 23 window buses (they have the rear corner windows) and 21 window buses (1964-1967 had a wider rear hatch so no corner windows) that bring the high dollars with the 23 being much more sought after and therefore more expensive. As a general rule the older the more valuable when it comes to VWs.

It almost looks a 55-56 pontiac in rear with flat tires pushed the vw against the 65. The vw doesnt seem to have enough rear end damage for the damage to the 65.

Relooked the rear car doesn't have the chrome hood "suspenders,". I was wondering if the rear car may have been pushed by a heavy vehicle.

Car behind the VW looks like a '57 Olds.

Any of those buses listed as conversions meaning built from a non-original 23 window have a considerably lower value.

And let’s also understand that any non-German built buses from Brazil are usually cobbled together third-world nightmares. All those split windshield buses from the 1970s are Brazilian and honestly almost nobody but the truly uninformed VW enthusiasts want them. The value of Brazilian split buses is much much lower than anything from Germany.

Split bus production was over with after the 1967 model year, the first year of production was 1950.

May all your split buses be German, both of mine definitely are.
