About 2 weeks ago I started coughing and it got worse at night, Tuesday I took the test and it was positive, After a teleconference with my doctor he call ed a few prescriptions one of which was Paxlovid, But the pharmacy was out until the next day after lunch. So I started on the other drugs he prescribed. One was to be taken with food so I waited until after supper to take it. 30 minutes later I was hugging the john and losing everything I had eaten since breakfast! Then, when there was nothing left to come up I started getting the dry heaves,
Back in my youth I tried drinking and would get throwing up drunk< but I don't ever remember it being this bad.
I was able to make it to the couch, but if I turned my head the least little bit I started heaving.
It got to my wife so bad that she called an ambulance to take me to the Emergency room.After being checked in I had to force myself to sit up in a wheel chair. It was more like leaning forward until I thought I would fall out,
Then I was wheeled to the general ER receiving area with the rest of the general population, even though I had Covid, About 2 hours after being there I was called into a room to be triaged, They took blood checked my pressure then wheeled me back out into the room where I sat for 3 more hours, Finally I got wheeled into an exam room and had the best doctor and nurse who immediately saw to my needs. They put me on an EKG started fluids and added a drug to my fluids to help with the nausea. The nurse came back after 15 minutes to see how the drug was working and I told here it had a very little bit but I was still very nauseous so she gave me an injection of Phenegan.
I found out that Phenegran was my friend.
I had to be able to give a urine sample before I could leave but I surprised even myself when I did. and I slept most all day
WE got home about 6:30 Wednesday and I slept most all day.
Wednesday my wife testes positive for it. I am thankful for our close friends who got us our meds and food.
I still have a nighttime cough but am doing well other than that.
In closing I hope none of you have to take Paxlovid.Unless you like metal mouth!

My wife got it while we were in Lisbon, made the choice to delay our return*. Took her to the ER in Setubal - excellent service and cost €90. No fever, good blood ox but lots of coughing and weakness. I had no issues or symptoms.

Portugal was losing 12 people a day to Covid then - it is on the rise.

*AA wanted $4,500 to postpone our return, even after we told them why - that got resolved later.

Had it, at least twice, only difference than when I would get a normal cold ( to my knowledge I’ve never had the flu ) was a fever. No jabs and I’ve never gotten a flu shot. My father would always ask, “ did you get your flu shot this year?”, I’d say no. He’d make some snarky comment but he was the one laid up for 3 days/week with the flu every other year, not me.

Had it earlier this year missed work for a week had bad sinus congestion for 3-4 days. Then would get up in the morning thinking I feel much better but 2-3 hours later I would feel like I just worked 20 hours and would just sit around. That took another 3-4 days to get over. It was a rough 7-8 days to say the least.

Why the chocolate and grapes? Paxlovid, like any other drug works for some people and not for others. The time I had covid, I didn't know it. I had a physical at my doctors and he told me I had a high antibody count. He said I must have had it. I was training for a triathlon at the time. I think the running, riding and swimming and being outdoors helped. I drink a lot of fluids, Gatorade, Propel and water. I think that helps to be hydrated. I use a product called Liquid IV. It comes in many flavors, that you add to a water bottle. My daughter, a medic, always keeps these on hand. It was good advice to start using these. Hope you are feeling better.

I caught Covid in mid-June 2024. I felt very tired, and I began to suspect I was getting sick when a tickle in my throat turned into a cough, I had a mild headache, low-grade fever, and sinus congestion. We had Covid home test kits, so on the second day I tested positive. I called my doctor, and he prescribed Paxlovid.

This was the first time I had Covid, and it was only slightly worse than any other cold I've had (except for running a low-grade fever). My stomach churned, but it never got to the point of diarhea. I'm 67 yrs old, and it was far milder than I expected at my age. I felt rough for 3 - 4 days, I was tired for probably two weeks, but after two weeks I was totally back to normal. It never got into my lungs at all. I think the newer variants are more like a common cold than the deadly virus from four years ago.

It’s still around unfortunately and continues to mutate. After taking the initial two vaccinations and testing positive on two different occasions, there will be no more vaccinations for me for Covid anyway. It didn’t work.
The shots were distributed at my office. Convenient and done by hospital staff so why not…I thought. It may as well have been a placebo.

I'm in my 50's and have had it a couple times. 1st time I felt pretty bad for about 4-5 days. 2nd time wasn't too bad. I never got the shot. I have never worn a mask... just social distancing and hand washing. I do take vitamins and get plenty of sleep. I am pretty sure we caught it at a restaurant in Klamath Falls OR.

After some research I started drinking Emergen-C immune+ on a regular basis during covid.. When I had covid the 1st time. I drank about 4-5 packets a day and it was a noticeable difference as I felt myself quickly getting better. I feel that if I hadn't... I would have gotten worse and not recovered as quickly. Every time after that I would double up on it if I started feeling like crap.

I couldn't smell a damn thing for 2-3 months after.

I had it and got absolutely slammed. Didn’t know I had it at first was just whacky as hell for a few days . Then started w the breathing and low oxygen. Went into the hospital a week after my buddy father died from
It was pretty sure I’d be toast. But never got in a ventilator just oxygen. I was so weak I couldn’t stand up to take a shower. Ended up at the hospital 2 times
And was on oxygen during same illness and though I got better my lungs never came back fully yet. (Let’s put it this way I own my own oxygen generator now) Went from a 9 minute running mile before to a 17 minute mile (struggling to breath) best right now years later. Have complications like if I stand for 15 min my legs go dead numb in my thigh area
it’s crazy. Sit down it goes away. I’ve had it since then but it didn’t hit me nearly as hard. I had these symptom s for a long long time. Thing just wouldn’t come out of my lungs. It just hits everyone differnt. This was the original covid. I’ve had it 2 times since and it wasn’t really bad at all. Was like a tough cold but both times set my lungs back a little.

Not a denyer of covid (obviously I think it’s handling was total BS especially masks. For those of us who know how microns work from
Fuel or oil filters. We know that cloth masks just couldn’t possibly work and N95 was a joke because you didn’t exactly seal the things. I know when I got it which was on an airplane and everyone was asked uplike crazy .

Anyway just thought I’d share , I’m much better now and continue working on getting that mile down to a reasonable number.

1st wave in 2020-21 we continued bowling and seemed nobody got sick. Non-bowlers did.

Then an outdoor Nov wedding in HBG 21' and some server staff guy was coughing, sweaty and kinda hiding from doing the work. Get back fro Thanksgiving and...the wine tasted like vinegar. Everyone else said "seem fine to me". So wife and i knew we caught the bug.

Weak for a week, we layed around on the couches and joked about being to weak to do anymore than15 min of anything. Got better.

Been fine since buuuut have noticed the Eastern U.S. has a covid-like Pneumonia going around this Summer. Even some Bowlers.

Everyone has different reactions. I had head colds worse than the 2 times I've had Covid. My wife, the first time, ended up in the hospital for 5 days and it affected her digestive system vs the respiratory system.

COVID is on the uptick here right now. I work with and around lots of different people. (Students). Also 66 YO and have had Pneumonia several times. I have had COVID 3 times, verified by tests and probably a 4th time before tests were available. Each time the symptoms and severity were different for me. Sick as a dog for 10 days was the worst to just light head cold symptoms another time. The weirdest one was the 3rd time. Completely lost my sense of smell. To test this, I opened a 5 gallon plastic gas can and took a strong sniff. Absolutely no smell at all. It was really strange. It took 2-3 months to regain my sense of smell and over a year later not back to 100%. Maybe 85-90% now. One of my students died from COVID 2 years ago. Another student was on a ventilator for 2 weeks but did survive. He dropped out of school that year but returned the following semester.

I’ve had Covid twice; first time was in January, 2020. Yep, that was two months before the official recognition of Covid here in the U.S. I thought I was going to have to die to get better; fever, chills, hurt all over like I had been beaten with a baseball bat, couldn’t smell taste anything and didn’t want to eat. I was constantly short of breath and coughed with no effect. My lungs felt like they were full of concrete. My wife, who was out in her facilities, was calling everyday to check on me. She suggested that I should call my doc for an appointment. I refused; there’s not much you can do for a respiratory virus except bear it the best you can. I refused to stay in bed(which is what probably saved me according to my doc); I’d get up, do a couple of things then lay back down when I got light headed. Recovery took the better part of a month. I took one complete round of the Pfizer vaccine and one booster; suffered no immediate ill effects but wound up with blood clots in my left leg nearly six months later. Both my hematologist and my primary told me the vaccine were probably a contributing factor in the blood clots. Contracted Covid-19 again last September. To be honest, I’ve had worse head colds than Covid was this time.

Still have not had it, neither has GF or son.

No odd precautionary measures. I kept traveling for job, going to national NHRA races (it was eerily strange during Covid though in Las Vegas....ghost-town feel to it), vacations, etc...

GF had to keep her vaccinations up (career in medical field).

We traveled locally throughout this entire time. Stayed away from elders though.

Lots of crabbing and outdoor things kept us busy during the worst.

As far as I know I and my wife have not had covid. My nurse daughter had it three times. Her husband had it twice. First time they both were laid up for a week. Symptoms of a bad cold/flu. Last couple of times mild symptoms. Even though my wife and I had not had symptoms, when we were traveling in and out of the US we were testing. While in the US free testing was available and took advantage of that. Whenever either of us had cold/flu systems we tested using the home kits. Always negative. The last time either of us felt ill, we didn't bother testing. Another couple we socialize and vacation with each had it twice. Mild symptoms. While others may disagree we believe contributing factors were vaxxing, masking, social distancing, qurantining etc. I have heard many anecdotal stories of people vaxxing and dying and not dying; and of people not vaxxing and dying and not dying.

Had it twice, both times symptoms were equal to a bad cold. I’ve been vaxed twice(it was a requirement to travel by plane here and nearly a requirement to keep my job at the time, but enough of us including me, resisted the mandatory reporting, that they stopped asking for us to provide proof of Vax) The vax might be why symptoms were milder but I will never know for sure. My wife (also vaxed twice, requirement for her to work and to travel) got Covid three times, two of them symptoms were similar to mine, but the third time she could not keep anything she ate to stay in her and could almost not get out of bed, after 5 days of that, she started to recover, it took another two weeks before she was back to ~90% and a couple weeks more to get fully recovered. So far no known lingering effects from either Covid or the Vax.

I appreciate Y'all keeping this civil. I honestly think I got it back in December 2019 when I picked up my son at the Atlanta airport. I got sick,then he did and then my wife. But, that was before they had a Covid test. I did take the first 2 shots and one booster The second time I got it it was just mild cold symptoms, but I had lingering effects of tiredness and fatigue for several months. This latest bout really worked on me. Cold chills fever over 101 body aches and nausea.I tested negative over a week ago but still have an uncontrollable cough that gets worse at night!
Lord willing I will get better and feel like catching up on the chores that are piling up.

It is possible you contracted it in December. Covid-19 started showing up in nursing homes in Washington State as early as November, 2019. The first confirmed cases were showing up in the PRC in September, 2019.
