Default installing transfer slot restrictors

After installing transfer slot restrictors into a 4150 style carb, should I be able to push a drill bit through the restrictor all the way into the body of the carb so I can see the drill bit by looking down into the primaries?

Thought I read somewhere you could drill too far into the main body and I'm worried I may have done so ...

If you drilled where i think you did, straight across from lower IFR's in towards main body into primary bore? yeah not good

Are you seeing brass chips or aluminum from the drilling you did?
