All,
I will soon repaint the interior metal portions of my 67 - dash, upper part of doors, etc. It was painted by a previous owner many years ago after sanding with a brick, rock, or some other 20 grit abrasive. ![]() I will properly sand/prime to fix that, but question is, what is the original sheen of the factory finish? I see lots of restomods with glossy interior paint, but it seems somewhat overstated. Was the factory paint a satin/semi finish?

I would say it is a gloss finish, I have attached some pictures of my Original paint 67 Firebird.
Its what I have on my HD I can take some pictures of the upper dash if you like.

My understanding is that the bottom of the dash and the rest of the exposed metal painted surfaces should be a semi-gloss finish. The top of the dash should be a matte or satin finish.
This is how I did my interior, semi-gloss everywhere except for the top of the dash which is matte. The matte finish on the top of the dash reduces glare on the winshield.

I still think the lower dash and door tops are finished in a gloss but it could be a semi gloss, the top of the dash is defiantly a less gloss finish, but I don't think I would call it a matte finish maybe 20% gloss?
I took these picture today so the lighting is the same on these 3. My car is a 3 owner 105K mile Survivor

I seem to recall 60% gloss on everything metal below the dash pad and flat/matte above.
I know these things are documented somewhere. Might have been paint charts, but I don't recall which paint supplier I don't know about the door upper as that's 67 only, my knowledge and literature is mostly 69 and a little 68. Maybe ask in the Interior and Paint/Body forums. |

Thanks, all. That helped. Makes total sense with the upper dash surface being duller. I was worried that a high gloss wouldn't look right on the lower dash and door stuff.
