Default 1963 Catalina 2 door Hardtop long branch fitment

Hi all

I managed to pick up a 63 Cat and hopefully as we speak its on its way to New Zealand !!!. I have a few upgrades planned as a bit of a 60's period "street racer'.

In my stash over here I have a set of long branch manifolds that I would like to swap on. From the part numbers it looks like there were originally 1969 350ho / 400ho / RA III. The left has listing from 1967 to 1969, big car and FB by the looks

Part numbers are

9779495-1 LEFT
9797073-1 RIGHT

Looks like the left fits several years, (incl big car) but the right might be FB only ?

Does anyone know if these will fit my 63 Cat, 389 Auto.
I read somewhere about an angled adaptor as well being required for big cars.
I do have some angled back factory filter adaptors, but not sure if these would work, or if in need the machined one ??

I realise std head pipes may not fit, but I will be getting custom ones made here anyway, as current Exh is only single and I want to go to dual with X-over

Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Yes,you will need to get the thicker angle oil filter adapter as used on the 61/64 big cars.Tom

Gonna ask a question and bring this thread out of retirement...

If I understand correctly Tom S stated the 67-69 F body long branches will fit 63 fullsize. If that is true, will 63-64 fullsize long branch manifolds also fil the 67-69 F body and 65-70 B body cars? I recently picked up a set of repops the seller said came off his 69 Firebird. The right side is 9779494 (65-57 P/8 HO). The left side is 537455 (63-64 P/8 HO).

Yes the manifolds should fit. The oil filter adapters will be different. The F and G bodies need the thin oil filter adapter. The B bodies use the much thicker one. Both are available.

I tried on my 63 in addition to before mentioned oil filter interference the bell housing mounted starter is also a problem.
