has anyone run a 9 inch wide slick on a 7 inch wide wheel? any issues? thanks

It will have a slightly bulged sidewall, but 9" isnt all that wide for 15x7, lots of guys run ~10" wide tires (275/60/15) on 15x7 wheels with no problems besides the more bulged sidewall than say a 15x8" wheel.

The issue is you won’t be using the full width of the tread on a narrower rim.
It’s not unusual for serious racers to mount 10” wide slicks on 12” rims to spread out the tread in order to use all of it. I raced for many years with 10x28” slicks on 8.5” wide wheels and it wasn’t difficult to see that maybe only 90% of the tread width at best was being utilized. A 9” slick on a 7” wheel ain’t that bad and ain’t that good, but sometimes you gotta run whatever fits your car.

Yes I have on 15x7 wheels with 9-29.5 slicks. I have 255 60 15 drag radials on 7” wheels now works great with a even pattern at 16psi
