Default Sad News - Jim Mott

Have heard that Jim and Amelia Mott had their home burn to the ground. Apparently Amelia was back East visiting family and Jim was picking up a car in California when this happened. Apparently a left plugged in Alexa thingy was the cause. Jim is well known for his award winning restorations, even on the national level.

Both Jim and Amelia are terrific people. Don't know if any type of fund has been started but will advise if I get info.

Say prayers please.

A lot of off-camber jokes could be made about the Alexia device in this scenario.

Knew the Mott name sounded familiar.
He has done some high end restos on many high end Pontiacs.
Terrible disaster and so sorry to hear it.

I’m sorry to hear that too. I’ve talked with Jim several times over the years - and he was always willing to help..

Quite years back someone gave me an Alexa thingy for Christmas i let it sit for like 3 years NIB and then threw it out.... I didn't like the possible monitoring from afar, Now i have another reason.....

At least no peoples were lost yet a very sad day indeed...

My sister has one of things and it recorded our conversation for NO reason. I won't have that thing in my house.

Well, I’m glad they’re ok. Hopefully insurance will help them.

Just an update. Apparently Jim and Amelia are in the process of buying a new log cabin kit home to replace what burned down. I've seen pics of the old home and it's completely destroyed. Their insurance company has rented a nice home across the canyon from the old home. Rented it for them for the next 2 years.

Thanks for the update Bob. Finally a good story about insurance. Not like the insurance deal with SDPerformance.

Unfortunate loss. Wonder if the Li-ion battery flamed up.

Also, this Post is a Reminder to me for slack about so many plugged-in 'chargers' around the home.

Totally off topic
Li Ion batteries were mentioned , so a heads up ,,,
In the past year or so quite a few Motocross racer teams have had devastating fires going down the road inside of their enclosed trailers.

Most all of them have been attributed to Li Ion batteries in their ATV pit vehicles.
Insurance only covered the trailer itself - not the contents. Heavy heavy losses.
Be careful and cautious
