I need a really big from anyone that has around a 79 Trans Am equipped with courtesy lights, you know the ones around the kick panels. Mine are either missing or the car was never equipped, either way I want to add them. Getting them is the easy part, the hard part is knowing exactly where they mount. I have been going through many Youtube videos of people removing dashes, kick panels trying to get a glimpse of where they mount with no success. I just need a picture of exactly where they brackets mount on the right and left, that is all. If anyone can help me out here, I will be forever in your debt!

This website has lots of good info on wiring & accessories etc, one of the pics shows the general location where the courtesy lights mount on the dash, they are just mounted with a small screw into the lower metal frame of the dash in each corner. I can get a pic of my car later today if needed.

Also, strongly suggest buying a GM/Pontiac service manual for your year, it will show things like this as well as most all other aspects of working on these cars the correct way, much better than searching youtube or google, should be able to find them on CD for cheap.

My car had the 1978 Service manual and the 1979 supplement manual in the trunk when I bought it. Surprisingly the courtesy lights are nowhere to be found in either, just the bulb size. I did find where the sockets go by digging for hours in old forum post, websites, etc. I eventually found the way the original wires route. I have a used wiring harness with both sockets and switch ordered.

Figured the manual would show the courtesy & other lights location, it does show the wiring diagrams for them.... but hopefully the link I posted shows you where they get mounted, if not I can get you a pic later today.

Nope, I am good, no need. Mine obviously never had them since the holes were not punched through the dash pad at the bottom, but at least the metal is drilled out and threaded.
