[Baron Von Zeppelin]

This really caught my eye the other day on a random search for a general 69 P-o-P.
It is issued to 24-997 with 0 miles
Never seen one issued with 0 miles before.

General public cars always have at least 1 - 10 miles on them at delivery.
They took this one right off the factory floor.

That is the Los Angeles Zone
Appears it was an upper fluff employee company car.

Craziest thing is we have seen P-o-P's issued to cars AFTER their company use.
They still get a full warranty , and issued to the new owner with the subsequent mileage.
Weird that this one stayed with the car somehow.
Maybe that employee subsequently bought the car and they let the original P-o-P stand it's ground.

It is for sale on eBay for $395. If you owned the car now it might be worth it.

This is an original Protect-O-Plate card for a 1969 Pontiac GTO Convertible. I used to own this car ! Sold it about 20 years ago. Found this in my files. I'm pretty sure the car is still on the road.

And mileage is 51 ?
I'm really not studied up on PoP's to much degree.

The 24-997 is the hook to me.

I think the A2 is a code that has some meaning too.
Others might can fill in the blanks

A2 probably means it was re-assigned ?

I have kept up with the older metal PoPs , but these plastic ones are usually boring.
No EUN or TUN etc ...

Resold company cars -normally- would go through a dealership and have a dealer number for the zone-dealer imprint.
24-997 is almost as cool as Royal or Knafel dealer numbers.

Sort of on topic… this thread reminded me of when my Uncle owned a Ford Dealership in the 70’s. They had an older couple who ordered a brand new Lincoln every 3 years. The car had to have 0 miles or they refused it. Of course they were told it can’t come with 0 miles but the couple was adamant…from then on there brand new Lincoln came with zero miles courtesy of a gauge swap before delivery….

Here’s the PoP to my 69 GTO with zero miles. Car was ordered Sept 68 and delivered almost exactly one month later.

That one really is 0 miles , and first assignment A1 of PoP

The one I started the thread on is actually 51 miles on second assignment A2 of PoP
Skipping a dealer and bought through 24-997 is still pretty wild about it.
They didn't do much with it in 51 miles.

In the past all the company use cars we find get sold through a dealer.
It was probably a planned purchase scenario from the start by an insider to get the extra discount.
