Has anyone succesfully done this? I know Brian Hedrick had something, but not a street car. i am just scheming what i could do if my intercooler and turbo piping take up more room then i have for a good air flow to the radiator.
I have a fuel cell in the trunk, i was thinking about horizontally mounting a radiator to the underneath of the trunk. It is flat, out in the open, albeit underneath the car.
car will definately see street time so it will need to work atleast as good as it does now.
May never go this way but looking for ideas. Thank you in advance

Am sure many have had the idea including myself. I built a mount for radiator, same as you are thinking, horizontally and fan forced, etc Though I have not used it yet, am optimistic as have seen others do it with success.
My reason is because I want this build to look like a race only though it will be a street and strip deal.

I have rear mounted radiators in 2 cars. I think they work great and both cars stay cooler than ever. I have 31 x19 radiators in both cars. Bigger is better IMO.

If you zoom in your can see the radiator on the red car. I drive the that car on the street, no problem.

what are you using for a pump? one of the Davies Craig?if you have time i would love to see pics of hose routing and fill set up too thanks much

Yeah, I'm using a Davies Craig pump in the rear along with a Meziere up front.

I welded the expansion tank to my aluminum fuel cell and welded a bracket for the overflow tank.

I ran the 2 16an lines through the firewall, along the floor, and out the back.

I used a 16an thermostat housing and a Meziere 1.75" to 16an adapter along with a short piece of 1.75" silicone hose on the engine side.

I cut off the radiator hose nipples and welded aluminum plate over the holes. Then I welded 2 16an nipples for the lines and a 12an nipple for the fill line.

I welded aluminum angle to the sides of the radiator and used 3/8 threaded rod to hang it. I also added 1/4-20 threaded weld bungs to mount the trans cooler.

I don't recall who it was, but I saw a drag and drive one on 'tube and they had problems with road grime causing overheating. Up or down direction of a airflow might make a difference? Or just keep it clean.

EXCELLENT THANK YOU. so the davies craig is beiing fed by the ''normal thermostat housing, as a pusher thru the radiator and returned to the timing cover port and the mezeire gives it a noost thru th eblock and heads? the mezeire acts as a restrictor? are you running a thermostat or restrictor in the normal location?

Water leaves the thermostat housing and flows to the side of the radiator. The Davies Craig pump pulls water from the radiator and pushes it to the timing cover.

I don't use a thermostat or restrictor.

This the thermostat housing and Meziere 1.75" hose to 16an adapter I used. Then a piece of. 1.75" hose to connect to the timing cover.

excellent. i am currently running 16 volt, do you have the your system on 12? if not are you rinning the 24v davies? thanks for the pictures that is a very clean set up, i will try and replicate.
