Default Warrior Intake questions

Have the opportunity to purchase a 4150 flanged intake. No work or port work done to it. Appears to be in good shape. Are these aluminum? What would be a fair price? Could this be used on a 455 with ported cast iron d ports? What combinations have you used it with and gotten good results? I am assuming it should be used with a 1 inch or more carb spacer. Any other information regarding this intake would be appreciated.

They work well with ported iron heads with at least 2" of spacer. Mine worked best with a 1" Super Sucker on top of a 1" open. Plenum work helps.
They can be magnesium too. Not sure what a fair price is these days.
Got a 9-1 455 to 10.82 with one.

Best manifold out there when modified for iron heads.

Only the original Nash version was Magnesium, S-K and Warrior are aluminum.

Doesn't work great without a spacer and the manifold is already tall to begin with.

Will need some grinding to run a 4150 without a spacer.

Prices are all over the place, but I'll guess $300-$500 depending if your pitching or catching.

Sexiest looking manifold ever made for a Pontiac.

These intakes have taken Art Peterson who ran SS with his 69 400 D port GTO into the 10s to win that class.

If you get a original magnesium one just note that if you have a fuel fire magnesium burns!

I remember seeing an article maybe by Pete McCarthy about cutting the bottom of the plenum out to extend it lower to get more plenum volume out of one.

Ran one way back when. Didn’t really tune for it so my original Wenzler tunnel ram was quicker. Put a 2” phenolic spacer on it. Engine was a 406.

Sold it to Tom Vaught.

This is one of our dropped floor Warriors. Good for 37 horsepower over a basic Victor on an 800 horsepower factory block engine ...... Excellent intake manifold

How far is the floor dropped ? Is there a step on the bottom or do the bottoms of the runners tapper up, and meet the original level down the runner itself ?
Kinda looks like that.
If you do not want to share, I get it.
I should have had Gabby do mine back in the day day for 300 $. Now I bet its 1K to get it done.

I have run a Warrior for years. Street / strip combo. As said, a great manifold for select applications.

I grew up near the so called Mid-American Speed Shop. Aka the Hunt Bros.....

Too bad it's so expensive to produce an intake. That intake needs copied and produced to sell. It is a VERY good intake

Ken did the Tomahawk from Dave's ported HSD back in the day.
Couldn't one scan it and make a 3D printed plastic one and go from there ?
I sure got a lot of comments of my Warrior back when I ran it.
Best looking single 4 intake there is.
I made 2 one inch spacers like in Paul's photo for mine.

Paul knows pontiac intakes and cylinder heads.
1st only time met him back in 90s? I kinda donated a 70 455 block he carried down to his had a secret bunker underneath house.
Had least 3 Nash with 9 other intakes stacked on floor next his home made flow bench.
He could set up a head to ck port flow in 10 minutes.
Had another secret back room just for porting.
1/4" deep aluminum and steel shavings.
