The shop manual seems to imply that the fuseblock for all 1955-56 cars is PN 520217. I haven't matched up the attached photo yet with the fuseblock in my as-yet-untouched '56 Safari, but the one in the car I've presently got in the process of deconstruction was pretty well rusted, and it ended up getting tossed prematurely.
I liked the look of the terminals and the printing on this one (+1 for dry climes). How does it look to you guys?

This looks exactly like the original fuse block on my '55.

It looks okay from what I can see, but there is a lot I can't see. If it came off a 55-56 Pontiac, it should be good.
If it did not come off a 55-56 Pontiac, you need to verify the labels with those in the Shop Manual. Plus you need to verify the backside does the correct connections. Here are photos of front & back on my 56 Safari. Here is a cutout from the wiring diagram with my markup that shows how the backside connects to the front. I made that for my own reference but it might be helpful to you. |

Larry, you're a pal. Thanks for the excellent reference materials. I will match it up as soon as it arrives and will snap a couple quality pics of my own.

The one they were going to ship to me (upon my approval) was a rusted mess, the lettering was all worn off, and someone had wrapped the tail light fuse in foil(!). I flatly refused it. Here are a couple more of the original one they showed me, and which I have now approved for shipment.
I've matched up the bus bars in the back to yours, Larry, as well as the labels on the front to the shop manual, and they seem to be in order. Obviously, I'm still going to have some cleanup to do.

The fuse lock arrived over the weekend. I haven't had a chance to snap any pics of it yet, but what appears as "rusty" in the photos is really more dust than anything else. I need to have a go at it with some contact cleaner. I'll take some before and after pics of it when I get the old fuses out.
Overall, I'm pleased with this one (though I still think it was a bit pricey).
