Default 74 Formula 400 Air Cleaner question

I have a 74 Formula 400, Auto trans car with Factory Ram Air in the PHS Docs. I know there were very few of these cars produced in 74 with this option. Did this car use the functional RA dual snorkel air cleaner with the RA Boots and the screens in the hood or was that only on the 455 HO cars?

Also, the screens in this car, look like the factory original screens in the hood, however, the rectangular shapes of the screen runs vertically vs the Horizontal direction of the earlier 70-72 cars. Would these have been replaced or are they correct?

Thank you, Tom

If the PHS shows Ram Air yes it would have the grills, boots and air cleaner.

WU3 Ram Air was available on the 400 and 455 in 1973 and 1974. About 1,500 cars were equipped with the option in 1974. As noted, if it’s on the PHS, then your particular car was factory equipped with it. However, it doesn’t mean that all the components on the car today are the originals. Can you post pictures of what your have?

I actually bought all my hood parts from a 1974 Formula 455 which was shortly thereafter scrapped - the car was virtually held together with bondo and license plates!
lol

Default Ram Air 74 Formula pics

I sold a 74 Formula 400 RA car years ago, it had the RA air cleaner and boots mounted under hood, screens in scoops. All original.

It was silver with black interior with red seats.(It was black when I got it) It had a lot of options: pw, pdl, a/c, rear in glass defrost. had rally stripe, 80A alt for all the options, etc.

Ill look and see if i have pics that i can find.

Currently on San Francisco craigslist is a '74 RA car for sale. Looks to be very nice in the pics. 400 motor and auto trans with A/C.
