I have become the new owner of a 69 Custom S that was a Fremont, CA build. I have most of the data tag figured out except for a couple of things.

I'm curious about the DY in the upper corner and the two segments of numbers past the manufacture date 07E
Also, I have read that the B80 is for the black vinyl top and also read that it's the drip rail trim...?
I appreciate any help

The DY is actually BDY which is just the title for the body number (0407 in your case). B80 indicates the car was ordered with roof drip rail moldings. These were standard on GTO but optional on the Custom S (as part of the decor group which was deluxe wheelcovers, concealed wipers, pedal trim plates and decor moldings (roof drip, wheel opening etc)). Decor group (including B80) was a mandatory option if you wanted a vinyl top though. Your car translates into a verdoro green two door Custom S hardtop with a dark green vinyl top and with a green bench interior.

Here is my Custom S. It does not have the decor group so no drip moldings, wheel opening moldings or concealed wipers. The deluxe wheelcovers were ordered as a separate option.

The 73 is the paint code, normally would be another 2 digit number (73 in your case). The 'G' is the code letter for the vinyl top color. (dark green)
The PNT is for Paint, Like the BDY is for 'Body' (except you didn't see the 'B')

Fremont:
The first 6-digit number can be found in block #24 (MANIFEST SEQ. NUMBER) of the build sheet.
The second 6-digit number is actually a combination of a 2-digit number and a 4-digit number. The first 2 digits are found in block #10 of the build sheet (SCHED NO) and the last 4 digits can be found in block #24 of the build sheet.

That's definitely more info than I had translated and I can confirm that mine has that decor group. Thanks for that information!
I'm wondering how many of this exact model and trim group were made. Would PHS supply that info?

I should have known that about BDY, but the B is actually a whammo dent followed by DY. I thought it was a top secret Pontiac code, lol

A few more pics, Arlington built, late production, Eastern Colorado car. Options include: 350 2bbl, AC, TH350 (later production cars used the th350 with AC instead of the th400), power steering, manual drums, AM radio, rear speaker, clock, front and rear mats, deluxe wheelcovers, remote mirror, soft ray glass all and foam seat cushion.

All original 31k mile car including paint, interior etc. Unfortunately it was in a storage unit that had a fire on the floor above so the car cover got heat mushy into the paint on the roof and a bit of the trunklid. I don't have the heart to repaint it. No smoke smell or other damage, just heat that softened the paint that stuck to a cover.

It seems to have a production error, it has the woodgrain dash inlays. They were standard on the GTO and LeMans Safari Wagon, optional (as part of decor group) on other LeMans' but not offered on the Custom S or Tempest. Possible the original owner had the dealer install it also but I doubt it because the parts and labor to do that would probably equal the price differential up to a LeMans.

That's odd about the wood grain dash, mine has it also.
350/2 bbl with no A/C, but does have the decor package. I have confirmed it to have 54,668 miles by the oil change records found in the glove box.
With having the low mileage, I would normally want to keep it original, but the previous owner did a repaint and changed the Verdero green to the "apple pucker" green. It's a beautiful color with some pearl added, but obviously not original

On the Tempest the decor group included: deluxe wheelcovers, concealed wipers, deluxe steering wheel (three spoke), decor moldings (wheel opening, drip moldings, window frame moldings), rear armrests and bright metal pedal trim. Wood dash trim was not included and not available. the group price was $89.52 on the 2 door post and $88.47 on the 4 dr sedan.

The Custom S came standard with the deluxe steering wheel and rear armrests so the decor group on this model consisted of deluxe wheelcovers, concealed wipers, decor moldings (wheel opening, drip moldings, window frame moldings) and bright metal pedal trim. Wood dash trim was not included and not available. The price varied from $49.50 to $81.10 depending on body style

On a LeMans (except wagon) the decor group cost $25.28 and included deluxe wheelcovers and woodgrain dash trim. Since the wheelcovers cost $21.06 that means you were paying $5.27 for the woodgrain.

On the GTO and LeMans Safari (wagon) there was no decor group option offered since it would only consist of the deluxe wheelcovers but you could order the wheelcovers as a stand alone option.

I suspect that the woodgrain showed up on some Custom S's because the hardtop coupe and convertibles used the exact same dash assembly as the GTO so sometimes for assembly convenience they installed a dash with the woodgrain on it.
