I started watching that yesterday but didn't get very far. I'm confused how he can claim it's a GTO, much less a Judge, with the LeMans emblem holesand the Pontiac emblem side marker lights on the 1/4 panels.

Later on he finds out that the original Judge was destroyed. So the owner removed as many good parts off it as he could and transferred them to a 68 LeMans. The previous owner tried to make a Judge from a 68. The engine it seems is a WT 400. But I guess he has paperwork and title from the original Judge. So he is finishing up the LeMans as a Judge Tribute.

Someone needs to tell them how to ID engines and parts! (show them PY here?)
WT is not a Judge engine. Seemed like at one point he said something about the original engine being at the back of the shop? He bought body parts for a 1969 GTO then learned that they don't fit a 68? Kind of jumps all over the place.

They seemed pretty conscientious about getting the body panel fitment correct.

I think they are following the current thinking in the resto world .... every Tempest is a Lemans, every Lemans is a GTO, every GTO is a Judge, every Judge is a Survivor

I have been watching the JYD guys for years now, I'm just 2 hours away from them.. They always seem to keep it interesting. I was impressed with how well the Ames panels all fit together. It was disappointing to find out it wasn't a real judge.
They did a stroker build for an old bonneville not to long ago and drove it to Norwalk Pontiac nationals. That is a good one to watch. They work on just about anything from snowmobiles, 3 wheelers, tractors, RVs and all makes and models of cars. Being a farm kid myself growing up, I look forward to the planting and harvest season episodes. Just a bunch of knuckle heads having a good time. Last edited by rohrt; 02-02-2026 at 11:42 AM. |

I was always told a VIN swap was a no-no. It is illegal to re VIN a car. I know in Michigan it is illegal.
