I just made a deal on a "sort of" barn find 1963 Roadster. It was an abandoned project when the owner passed 8 years ago. He was a well known racer and ran a successful race engine shop in the area. Car has sat in the same spot off the road since 1979!

Post up some pics so we can see if you got a deal or not. I have owned a few of the C2's

1963, had drums only. Its an original 4 speed (M-20), has Black interior and it has both tops. The engine was professionally built (not sure of exact internals) 327/300 NOM. Was a frame off, underneath and frame are cleaned and painted. Does not look concours but is fresh.

Looks good. I've got a 2019 but would love an old classic.

I don't think you can go wrong with that.

Certainly reach out to the NCRS. www.ncrs.org and order the shipping info they have. It tells you what dealer it went to. You might be surprised and find the dealer still exists and some old dealers still have paperwork in their basements. They have a pretty good forum as well.
Car probably didn't come with side exhaust and certainly not the hood. |

I have a '63 roadster in my shop getting some work done on it. Lots of stuff is specific to that year. I also have a '66 427/390 coupe in here, plus my own '67 roadster. Join the CorvetteForum for parts and technical help.

Looks like the rear wheel openings have been opened up?

Code N14 side pipes require special rocker trim. Zip Corvette is my go-to for parts, decent prices and quick to ship parts.

Congratulations on that find. Looks like a nice, complete car you can enjoy. The 4-wheel drum brakes will take some getting used to. I know it did for me . You may find some surprising things that have deteriorated as you get it road worthy. I am close to getting a 73 SD-455 car back on the road that was parked since 1979 as well. Even though my car was kept in dry, climate controlled storage, couple things I ran into while prepping it. The rear wheel cylinders were frozen solid even though stored dry. The heater core had a couple pin holes in it even no coolant in it for over 40 years. The Radiator core was ruined and had to be recored even though again out of the car and stored dry. Good luck with the car and enjoy.

I've had a few, and still do. You think some Pontiac guys are difficult to deal with? Be prepared for nonsense on another level with Corvette guys, especially C2 guys.
That said, C2s and 68-72 C3s are some of the most beautiful cars ever produced. Your 63 looks awesome! The addition of sidepipes and a stinger is virtually mandatory for me with C2s.

I think you are correct. Missed that in the pics. Not easy to fix if you want to put it back correct.

Good color combo in my book. Red Corvettes with Red Gut are too much red in my book. Most early drum cars have been upgraded to disc just for safety. The rear wheel wells do look as if they have been enlarged. Not an easy repair if you want to put it back to stock but if you like it that way its perfect for bigger tires. Please post up some more pics when you get them. Nice distraction from the Ponchos.

The intent is to drive the car. I plan to do just basic repairs and upgrades, as I don't have any interest in a full restoration. I like HR Power tour, driving to events at Gilmore Car Museum and 131 Dragway etc. With this car being a 20 footer and non numbers, it will be great for that purpose.
I appreciate the input so far. |
