Default finally a 535!!!

looks like i found a fit resting spot for my 871. got lucky and landed a deal on a earier apjpb ia2 block, ross 22cc pistons...set of 9 plus rings...never seen that before. eagle h beams with arp 2000 bolts. and what was thought to be a ohio 4.5 stroke crank...but its a sgi 4.5 nitrided crank..all balanced and ready to go. even came with an ati balancer and canton pan, pickup, pump.

i have my eheads, 94cc 310cfm sdperf heads set up for a solid roller...what might be a small sr cam at 264-276 @.050 on a 113 lsa. not sure if its 0 decked or not, if so i shoukd be around 9.7 cr. i have no idea what the actuaal hp will be with this...i have a goal of 1000hp whether it be on pump gas or e85....but really anything over 800 is a win for me.

i have an aeromotive a1000 pump and 80 pound injectors for my converted bug catcher...but on e85 that all maxes out in the 700hp range. not sure what i can make on pump gas. i may have to go bigger

Are you going to start out with lower boost and then step up?

Wondering on what your approach will be...

the pulleys been in the box for awhile....i think it was either 6 or 8 psi on the 468 pontiac i bought it all off of. i figured those pulleys might only give 4-6 on this one. i will start off low, might even start with pump gas
since i have stuff for it. the more i read the comments about a butker 535 making 800+ hp and over 800tq and living forever at that rate has me throttling back a smidge on where to stop at. im not sure what kinda boost that combo was making ....but it seems like those results shoukd be easy to duplicate.

i cant wait to get this one together. i still need to get the 2nd key cut in the crank for the blower hub. but thats pretty much it.

trying to figure if i want to butn up my frames new black paint and add another set of motor plate mounts to run the bop belt drive, or just stick with the timing cover and ap motor plate.

I would get some rods better than Eagles for a 8-71 huffed 535.

I would stick to pump gas personally, but entirely up to you of course.

The cam you are looking at is close to mine, I have a 260/267 SR on a 112, and kind of wished I would have gone 113.5/114, but it runs great.

I did EFi (Comp Hi-Tech) lobes, which somewhat limited me on lift because of cores, but I'm happy w it. Comp offers a 'Low Shock' lobe now, wish it were available when I ordered but oh well.

They also have the XFi series, which look interesting, but they are fast ramp cams which may be harder on valvetrain. There's a few 'street roller' and 'endurance' lobes that are well suited for the street too.

i have a 264/270 112 lsa cam also..falls kinda in the middle of yours and the first one i mentioned.

any reason you woukd not run e85? i was thinking it might be needed with 9.7 cr, and to keep the blower cooler. if i can make good power on premium pump gas i would be all about that too....just because i think my a1000 pump and 80# injectors would support my hp goals, where id need bigger stuff for e85

The fuel production is not stable to provide a steady level of e85. It fluctuates and you will be in a constant state of 'learn'.

My personal opinion would to run regular e10, and just manage the boost (lower) to cover potential det. Much safer, and less 'work' managing it.

Note, solid profiles are about 10% less than a HYD, so SR to HR is not an apples to apples comparison. Wider LSA helps too. I would suggest sticking with EDIT: your LAST post than your 1st post. Even if it's slightly 'larger', it would favor more boost in the long run.
