My Sprint only has lap belts and I would like to install a later style integrated lap and shoulder belt with retractor. Since the shoulder belt was an option in 1968, could I expect to find the anchor point under the headliner?

Yes. I'm building a 67 right now and I'm installing aftermarket 3 point harnesses and the anchor points are already there. 66 also has them.

Yes, the attaching point was added sometime in the 1966 model year production. I installed the 1967 set in my 1967. I say it that way because the shoulder belts for that model year where two belts and not the one piece design we all use now. For '67, one belt attached in the roof rail, and the other using the existing bolt for the seat belt. It just fits right on top. Then they latch together. This site was very helpful to me for the installation. The installation instructions may be in the 1968 service manual for your car, or in a dealer bulletin. For '67 you don't need to remove the headliner, you can feel where the attaching point is. I am pretty sure I bought the kit from Ames. It's perfect.

Can you give me an idea where the upper mount is located? A photo would be a big help. Just feeling along the edge I cannot locate a mount through the headliner. No decent pics in the owners manual and nothing in the service manual.

Shoulder Belts were standard equipment after Jan 1 1968.

The mount is located just forward of the coat hook. Mounting drawings are in the Fisher Body Manual

A question for Pershing - I don't see how the stud plate can be installed without headliner removal, even when I locate the bolt holes. Did you install the stud plate or just use ONE of the holes for the anchor point? Or . . .
Did you surface mount the stud plate instead of locating it behind the headliner?
