Ive researched some threads on here & just got confused...
Original hinges are supposed to have numbers 524 & 525 on them. Or a row of xxxx. But I found a GM memo from February 23rd, 1970 stating a change of the hood hinges, but the memo doesn't list the part # that they supersede. My car was assembled on 2/5/70. My hinges are numbered 479737 & 479738. I count 26 springs. My hood is also before the braces were added because of the breaking & warping problem that the hoods had. Rod |

Can you post the memo?
Yours is a very early Bird. Is it Gold? Also Norwood plant? My Formula was 02/24/70 (02C) day after the bulletin. Also can you post the driver hinge fully?

Also found this in an old thread from Nasty Z28, debating 70 Camaro hinges. 2 guys on there claimed to have original hinges with the same numbers that are on my 70 Formula. I can't confirm mine as original because I've only owned the car for a year & a half. That thread on Nasty just kinda died without anyone ever confirming the 737 & 738 numbers one way or the other.

Thanks!
The Formula hood hinges has a thread on here, probably what you alluded to in your post. Can't remember if the hinges were different than the steel hood hinges off-hand. I'll have to see if I can find the Pontiac bulletin on this.

Ok. I was just looking at the hinges from my 73 Camaro & I count 25 rings on those springs, but the springs are quite a bit bigger a round than what's on my Formula.
