Guys, I need to join a Toyota furum as I have aquired an '09 Corolla, and she'll be needing periodic tech advice.
Anybody here that is a cracker jack at diagnosing late model Toyotas is welcome to trouble shoot with me over in Members Helping Members; I've got an intermitant auto transmission issue (no 3-4 upshift or converter clutch)(I don't know which) Thanks |

Pull the codes as a starting point. Not just generic obd, need manufacturer specific as well. Seen everything from solenoids to bad engine sensors cause issues. You will also be able to view live data on a decent scan tool and determine desired vs actual gear, TC lockup(not sure if yours us PWM or on/off), and more. Some of those Corollas had an OD off switch that can get stuck, usually on the shift handle.
