Can anyone Identify this radio? looking for one for my 1970..anyway of knowing what year it is? and how does it mount ..are there brackets missing? when i bought my 1970 Trans Am it had an aftermarket cassette player.

Should have been a decal on the left side of the radio which would have ID'd it for you.

I'd say it's not a 69 Bird radio, looks kind of like the 2nd Gen Bird radio.

I'd say you will just have to try and see if it fits your car.

That radio is for a '75-up (??? unsure on exact year) Firebird, so it would fit. The major difference is the Delco logo design and location as can be seen on the pics. This is a 1973 Firebird AM/FM stereo with the 32FFM1 P/N label sticker. 3 is for 1973, 2 is for Pontiac, F for Firebird, FM1 for am/am stereo. A 1970 Firebird radio would read 02FXXX.

Johnta1, unfortunately there was no decal on it. so SD455DJ you are saying the Delco script and location identifies it as 1975 and up???? Interesting, does anybody have a photo of a 1970 Am/Fm?

Transistor date calls out, 1976 7313562 (x)2FFPK1 (where x is the year, 2 (Pontiac), F (body style), FP (AM/FM push button with K (fader, rear speaker) and 1 (current revision)).

From the Corvette Forum;
The easiest was to ID the date of the radio is to examine the big output transistor (DS-501) on the back of the radio in the heat sink area (unless someone has changed it). There are four numbers on that transistor - first two are the year, last two are the week of the year.

7532- Transistor made first week of August (32nd week) of 1975. Which would make it a 76/77 model as HR said.

Here's the original AM/FM radio (mono w/rear speaker) in my '70 Formula 400.

Yes that looks like what I remember mine looks like.

OK, lesson time. There were 5 radio options as no radio (radio delete, as people like to call it) was standard.
AM radio (mono), option U63 had (x)2FPB1 7313522 on the tag.
AM radio (mono) w/fader (rear speaker), option U63, U80 had (x)2FPBK1 7313552 on the tag.
AM/FM radio (mono), option U69 had (x)2FFP1 7313532 on the tag.
AM/FM radio (mono) w/fader (rear speaker), option U69 w/U80 had (x)2FFPK1 7313562 on the tag.
And AM/FM radio (Stereo), option U58 (comes with U80) had (x)2FFM1 7313542 on the tag.
AM radios will have a bracket on the left with stud for mounting.
Faders will have 2 wires on the right (tuner side) for the fader control.
AM/FM will have a heat sink on the back side.

I found this locally to put in my 69 Gto but pretty sure based on it being a one piece unit and button colors this is a post 70 radio?
She fires up but isnt receiving anything and it looks like finding 8 ohm 6x9s will be slightly challenging.

Your radio might need a rebuild. Capacitors go bad. Transistor number looks like 7035 and would indicate a '71 model.
Original radios used a 10 ohm speaker and are available thru S&M Electo Tech.

A BIG THANK YOU to EVERYONE that responded to this thread.. Greatly Appreciate your input. One more question. How does it mount? like i said, my car had an aftermarket cassette player in it. Is there a bracket missing or is the bracketry in the dash.???? I see the nut on the drivers side of the radio, but what about the other side? THANK YOU!

I wish to piggy-back on that one;

The "stereo" AM/FM radios were the "red dot" radios - when the station came in strong, a tiny red light would illuminate on the dial face.

The non-stereo AM/FM (& AM) radios came in two flavors because of the availability of the tape (now referred to as 8-track) player;
The ones with the rear fader were (afaik) not teamed up with the tape player, while the ones without the fader were teamed up with the tape player.
The tape player had a built in fader which negated the need for a fader on the radio.

i can't comment on the fader w/8-track, but I thought that when the player was being used, the radio was bypassed. So I would think one would need the fader if using an 8-track player. Otherwise how would the stereo work when the 8-track was there and not being used?
