Can I swap internals from a '77 TA steering box to a '67 box?
Got a yard art '77 TA steering box that a good guy tossed in with a deal, was originally thinking about it for my '66 2+2 (since sold.) Have read up on the Jim Shea papers, know the internal stops are wrong, but with a proper pittman arm might be a good alternative to a pricey aftermarket.
Now, I'm looking my '67 GTO convert with the hay wagon steering and thinking, 'hmm...' the answer I'm looking for just might be holding open the shed door.
Anyone ever try this? The TA box does not appear to be a WS6, but seems snug when I had it up on the bench.
I'm sure halfway through the project I'll be ready to stroke a check to someone who does it for a living. But worth asking before casting it to Marketplace.
