72 TA: How to tell if car came with A/C or not?

Look for the partial VIN stamp near the rectangle opening.

Did you find the partial VIN on your car? If so does it match the VIN under windshield?
I can't find a non ac car firewall off hand ( I only had non AC cars except one  )Here is a pic from service manual that can kind of make sense maybe. The heater hole is horizontal and the heater outlets are in different position. Uses a lot smaller case to cover it also. The AC one has a vertical hole and further away I think than the non-AC one.

unless some real funny business was done, that's absolutely an a/c car.
non-a/c cars didn't have the large cutout - the heater box between a/c and non-a/c cars was completely different, as was the cutout on the firewall.

Yes, what has been said, that is an AC car. Another way to verify is to look at the two holes where the heater core pipes come through the firewall. In the drawing above that is for an non- ac car you can see the pipes come through the firewall near the center close to the tunnel ( so easy to change the heater hoses). The AC design, as in the photo above, shows those two holes near the hood hinge area (blocked by the inner wheel well and a PITA to access).
Looking for the heater core pipes is an easy way to tell if an AC car was "converted" after the AC suitcase was removed and a conversion plate/box was added to keep the blower motor working.
