Upper Radiator Hose
A few weeks ago I posted on my Sprint engine having two cooling system sending units. One was for the console gauge, the other for the HOT light in the dash. The second sending unit was in the thermostat housing and another forum member recognized that as a Chevy 6-cylinder part.
I located the proper thermostat housing with a plan to eliminate the second sending unit. The angle of the Chevy part is different from the Pontiac part so I had to find a new upper radiator hose that fit, since OEM's are no longer available. I found a Gates 22483 had the perfect shape. It's a very long hose and half of it went into the trash but the first 12" are a perfect fit. Whoever installed the Chevy part installed the sending unit last, and it screwed in so far it mashed the thermostat. It was forced open slightly and could not open further. |
