Caught some air over the weekend
For the guys who havn't seen this on fb. I dropped a few hundred lbs with fiberglass front end and wilwood brakes. Hooked up good on this launch. Car didn't like a harder hit , left at 3k off the brake.

First time, thats why. Im going to drop the ladder bars down to lower hole and tie the front end down. Wheelie bars are still an option. So this doesn't happen again. I want want to carry a 2ft wheelie out. Just not on the back bumper again.

Well hopefully its going straight , all i could do was stare at the hood scoop and I did peddle the throttle some so didnt come crashing down hard. no major damage but did take it to work and did an alignment on the car, adjusting the ladder bars to get the rear end square. I set it up for a 4 wheel so can see the rear toe in.

Travel limiters on the front will help, as well as the ladder bar adjustment. When I did that years ago, it went right after going on the bumper and I had to get out of it so it didn't go into the wall. Cracked the trans case and bent the subframe when it came down.

The little that I've read ladder bars are simple but you lift high or lose traction. There was an article in an old Car Craft that Larry Tores and Gary Boze talked about advantages and disadvantages of ladder bars and 4 links. Explaining how to design them.

Further what was nice about that article that made understanding links very simple. They used cardboard! The chassis was one piece,very simple cutout, the rear end was another piece, then the links, one ladder bar, one set of unequal length 4 links, and one set of equal length 4 links. Regular pins were used for pivots. This cardboard is one dimensional. You held the chassis in 2 fingers of one hand. Then you took your 2 fingers of your other hand and torqued
the rear end with the different links. For me a person who knew nothing sure made it simple to understand what the and how the links worked affecting the chassis. I made the parts out of very thick sturdy cardboard still have them somewhere. Just my 2 cts |

Ladder bars adjusted down to bottom hole, was in the middle and resent pinion angle. Viking DA front shocks on the way...
