Legendary and PCI merging?
I heard some noise about Legendary and PUI merging....any truth to that? I did read that Legendary and ACI have joined, (ACI makes the seat foams) .
Perhaps the person I heard the legendary/PUI story misheard and the real news was Legendary/ACI which is mentioned on their website. Thanx in advance. George

I haven't seen anything on a PUI/Legendary acquisition. Thanks for the info, George. Ogre

PUI merged with Trim Parts, The Right Stuff Detailing and SoffSeal a while ago to form RPUI (Restoration Parts Unlimited, Inc.). I haven't heard about Legendary Auto Interiors trying to acquire them.

Whats the quality of PUI seat coverings compared to Legendary? Should I spend the extra $ for Legendary?

Good question, I was thinking same. I read the thread from 2017, I think, and at that time the legendary was better, I'm going with that.

Legendary Covers are hands down better than PUI, ESPECIALLY for all the Pontiac style covers that have the heat stamped pleats. PUI covers STILL have the same issues with those designs, even after all these years.
The conglomerate that owns PUI is huge, so I don't see Legendary ever buying PUI. If anything it would be the other way around... I'm sure it was just confusing ACI and PUI. Too many acronyms. I suspect that over the next year or so Legendary will drop the ACI brand on the buns and they will just be Legendary's buns. From what i hear they are no longer stenciling the name on the Post-Buyout mfg'd buns, and the are now leaving off the muslin install cloths that used to be glued on. Hopefully they don't F with the formula, that is what made the ACI buns the best... The were soft where most of the others on the market were hard as a rock. I've started using the ones sold by Thornton Restorations since they are also soft like the ACI buns, but less than half the price. Made in USA in Philadelphia. -Ben

I'll know in a few weeks on the quality of the Legendary standard seat covers for a 1974 Firebird. Long wait time, already one week past my due to ship date.

Legendary 100% is far better than PUI. In the Buick world, it is easy to spot PUI interior products (door panels and seat covers) VS Legendary. I have done about 10 interiors now, with both Legendary and PUI, and Legendary, hands down, is better in all respects. I recently changed the interior on my 68 442 convertible, using PUI (as the kit came with the car), and it is "ok". The grain on the rear side panels VS the door panels is clearly evident (almost like the grain pattern wasn't pressed hard on the rears vs the fronts). Plus, the fabric material for the seat covers, that one would slide the listing wiring into, is thin and quite sh*tty, fraying or tearing apart.
IF it was my money, and I wanted high quality, Legendary. if you're performing a quick mop n glow to flip, or just want something in a weekend driver, PUI...
