One thing on the 68 400 block, it will not bolt in the TA. You will have to use adapters to make it fit. 1970 and up 400's will bolt in no problem.
(as all 455 will)

Make sure the machinist cleans the lifter oil galleys out good. With all the bearings junk plus the lifters junk, you need it cleaned well.

My 70 Judge had the marks and seems my 74 SD...

My 70 Judge had the marks and seems my 74 SD block had them. (stampings)

Most other blocks never looked that close.

Also have a Service News on 1971. (couldn't find any 70 codes)

#1 is alternator old R and F is new alternator...

(brown went to 4 and R is #2 on connector but would be #1 on new alternator)

I don't think they had the reverse lockout setup...

I don't think they had the reverse lockout setup like 70 and newer.
But I'd say the neutral and reverse light switch is out of adjustment?
Not sure where it is in 65, but probably on the tranny...
