Default Dark Blue Pics

I'm getting ready to paint my 73 formula, and I'm having trouble deciding on color. I thought about doing it solid Lucerne Blue, but I think I want a darker blue. I have a paint chip page from 71 and there is a Regency Blue Code 29 on there that looks pretty good. I think this color is very similar to the Admiralty Blue Code 29 from 1973. I was wondering if you guys could post some pics of your dark blue birds, or offer other suggestions. The other question then becomes stripes or no stripes. I'm leaning towards just a solid color at this point.
Thanks

In the early 70's there was "Bermuda Blue" I believe it was called.... The color was a silvery blue that was along the Lucerne Blue tone but lighter.... I'm seriously looking at chasing the code down and painting my 70 Formula that color with a Tuxedo gut...

Nocturne Blue 1979 code 29 is an AWESOME color. (80 & 81 code 29 is not the same as 79 mix.

Similar to 74 code 29 Admiralty Blue but a bit more vibrant. (it lightens up in the sunlight & turns to black at night)

70' Atoll gets my vote. As close to Mopar's Plum Crazy as you will see on a 2nd gen. It has violet in it and not as much green as 73/74 Admirality.

Have a look at 1975 code 26,Bimini Blue.

It's just a tad lighter than Lucerne Blue.

I responded to an ad on Craigslist a number of years ago to a guy parting out a 70 Formula. It was paint code 25 Bermuda Blue with a black vinyl top and black deluxe interior. At first, I thought it was just faded Lucern Blue, until I checked the data plate. It's the only one I have ever seen. It was also the most heavily optioned 70 Firebird I have ever seen, it had everything, it was even a RA III car.

Holy Cow!

I thought I was looking at my Grandmother's 75 for a minute. I had to go check in the garage to make sure it was still there!
:-)

(code 26 Lucerne Blue repaint)

My favorite blue for sure! Had a 79 WS6 Formula that color, with the grey accent along the bottom, with the broken Formula lettering. Stunning, and it was the most effect from any paint of it's time. True how it turns almost black at night, and how the light on the tops of the fender curves stand out. Would love to find another....

Atoll is my second favorite, and that 70 eaglesan13 is beautiful!

Isn't that the car that Jack Nichols of Apopka, FL sold to "70FormulaRAIII"? Turned out to be a restamped motor from what I remember.

This is the kind of look I'm considering with my 70 Formula when I get the chance (sorry just a quick Photo-shop to give you an idea of color on the car)

If you are looking for an almost Navy Blue, very near Black, I'd vote for Admiralty Blue, as in post #5.

I think it is, but I have had that picture on my computer for years. I almost changed the color of my formula to Atoll blue because of that picture, I really like the Atoll blue/deluxe sandlewood color combo.

I really appreciate the pictures and opinions guys. I really like the atoll blue. I sent the link to my wife and she really likes it too, so I guess it is settled. The body work and painting should be done around the beginning of October, and then the real work begins...
I'm sure there will be many more questions from me along the way.
Thanks
