1968 GTO Ram Air PCV vent pipe difference.
Can anyone tell me what the difference between the non-RA vent pipe and the RA vent pipe. Ames shows them as two different parts and I used the original closed air cleaner tube when adding the RA pans. The look identical online and the original closed air cleaner pipe fits perfect. Is there some difference that will cause a PCV issue?
I need to check this off my list because I am trying to track down a PCV problem with newly built 461 (1000K miles so far) and nothing seems to be wrong. Oil is entering the cylinder from the intake valve most likely though the PCV valve. I have tried 3 different valves and currently using a AC Delco one. There is some oil in the intake by the PCV port but no loss in oil level, no fouled plugs (except the outer plug ring is oily) and no smoke. 16hg of vacuum and no leaks. Tomahawk oem looking baffled valley pan. New guides cut for blue Viton positive seals on all valves. via a very competent machine shop I trust. Driven break in oil used for first 600 miles. |

I ordered the RA tube a while back and Ames sent me the standard part number. When I contacted them they said the RA and standard tubes are the same.
Since the build is fresh, are the rings fully seated? Have you done a leakdown test?

Same tube in 1968. Dealer just reinstalled the original tube when installing the system.
Agree on the next step should be a leakdown test
