New Pontiac 455 engine build video
Hey everyone:
I just uploaded the first part of a new engine building series, the first engine being my own Pontiac 455 going the traditional cam and compression route. Part 1 features the initial tear down and inspection of the short block by a local machine shop. You can see this video only in 1080HD on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/60051620 This video is geared towards novices and technical schools, but I hope there's something there for everyone to find helpful. Let me know what you think and what I can do to improve the series. It will continue to be documented on certain weekends after-hours so watch the series unfold in the weeks to come. Inspection after cleaning is next, then machining and final assembly. A dyno session and road and track testing will verify the improvements. So, stay tuned! Thanks, Aguila1. |

Dip Stick Tube Height 75 455?
They mentioned don't damage the tube because the are hard to find and replace. Mine was rusted away and I replaced it with a stainless steel tube but not the correct height. Does anyone know the height of the tube coming out of the block? I was hoping it would be mentioned. Thanks chaz069 Very informative.

Hey guys:
I hope you've been following along these past months as we continue to document the machining and build-up of this project. We're up to part 9 which continues on part 10 next week and finishes balancing the rotating assembly. We've started recording the assembly process and will upload these as soon as possible.
