Maybe the 68 seats are easier
I've got ACI foams, going to try just some jute and thin padding beneath, then foam, then covers. Will try to follow a combination of Rambows how-tos and the Legendary installation videos. Local shop wants $850 to do the job with all the materials supplied by me, not a chance I'm going that route. Recovered the rear using the original covers with all new padding, turned out ok. |

$850 for just the buckets? If it's for all 3, that's not too bad. I was quoted $900 for the front buckets and rear bench.

Yep, $850. Told them I would supply every thing down to the hog rings and stripped and painted frames. Just the two fronts.

That does sound pretty expensive. I don't ask my interior guy for quotes because he's always given me very reasonable pricing.
Also, where I live helps. Labor in general is less expensive here than a lot of places.

Reviving thread...
I'm coming back around to fixing my buckets, and am seeing how others have been doing, or made any progress with their' projects. I am going to cut the 'extra' wires in the seat pan, and see where that gets me. Maybe the upright pans have extra springs too? On the foams, I'm thinking only the insert areas need to be trimmed, the side bolsters appear to be correct. By trimming the insert area foams, I'm thinking I can pull the listing wire closer to the pan, taking up any slack that is leftover from trimming the foams. Any ideas are greatly welcome! .

A trick I use:
turn covers inside out and put in a pillow case. Low heat in the dryer to soften.

Guess I'll mention my issue. Legendary front buckets with ACI buns on a 70 GTO (sandalwood) had a shop do them turned out good, but the horizontal stitch ran at angle on each. Not noticable installed.
Rear bench different story. Same issue with stich, but the covers were too big. Problem fixed but I reached out to them, Paul directed me to Ron. Sent pictures but no word back yet.
