From the article:

Today, every GTO exported to the US is sold even before its components arrive at the Elizabeth assembly line. Some buyers are paying up to $7000 over list price to jump ever-growing queues.

The first sentance is a blatant falsehood, and the second is mere wishful thinking.

We thought 'Wouldn't it be nice if it had a little more torque. Be nice if it had a bit more launch feel. Really good if the mid-range was a little better. Nice if it had another 50 horsepower'.

Then perhaps they should explain why the new GTO can not be had with the LS-6 engine?

That article was just a puff piece for Lutz.

Another, perhaps more useful article here- Lutz states that the next generation GTO ('07) will also be Monaro based.

the article states that the next generation GTO will be designed by Holden, but it makes no reference to it being based on the Monaro.
