I think Uma takes it after she rips Darryl's good out. Strange movies!

Rockford had a tan Esprit, each model year from 1974-78. In show's last season, [1979-80] he didnt get a '79 as expected.

In the 1990's reunion movies, he still had the '78.

My dad has the entire first season of Rockford on DVD. We were watching the first episode (pilot) one day and there was a scene with him driving a '77. We were like WTF?? Musta added some driving scenes for the DVD to add some extra time maybe?

"The Rockford Files" pilot was a 2 hour Made for TV movie, and the then brand new 74 supposedly was blown up at the end. I was so mad, then when I grew up I realized it was a fake car.

Rockford had both a '74 and then a '75 for season 1.
Season 2 - '75 [all season], Season 3 - '76 in lighter shade of tan, Season 4 - '77, then for both S5 & S6 had the same '78.

James Garner must not have liked the '79 front end. Then again, show's last season [#6] was short, only 1/3 the number of episodes. So, maybe saved $$ by not getting a new car?

A few other scenes that barely qualify

Poltergeist - Red '78 dropped off daughter
Simpsons - Apo drove a '78
That 70's Show - '78 I believe
Yes, Dear - The brother-in-law drove a '78.
Mountain Dew Commercial - They flipped a '79 and while upside down grabbed a Dew can through the T-Top.

"Tender Mercies" starring Robert Duvall.

At the very end, his daughter comes to visit him in a 10th Anniversary Trans Am.

While "Smokey &..." is remembered by many, there was another Burt Reynolds movie from 1978, called "Hooper". Was about Hollywood stuntmen and also starred Sally Field.

There is a jet powered red '78 Firebird [not a T/A] featured in movie, and it does a big jump over a river.

Default Two in dazed and confused

Anyone remember the beginning of "Splash" when John Candy flies up in a gold 3rd gen trans am?

Also ,as an error of time frame, in the movie dazed and confused, that takes place in the '70's, in the part where the seniors are "dressing " the under classmen with condiments, there is a '78-'81 Red Trans Am with mid -eighties Z28 rims on it in the background. So, along with "white lightning" (74 S/D) at least two trans ams are in this movie.

The Turbo Trans Am in Joe Dirt was supposedly Jim Wranger's personal low mileage car. (Read in HPP a few years back.)

I thought Paul Le Mat made another movie following American Graffitti with a red 1st gen firebird, but I can't recall.

I don't know if I mentioned this one before or no, on the adult swim cartoon "Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law" X the Eliminator has a black '77. Probably my favorite show on that network.

On an episode of Family Guy where Brian sells Stewie's teddy bear Rupert at a yard sale, they travel cross country to get it back and they hitch a ride with Bandit and Sally Field. I remember another episode where they were having a car wash with a bunch of half naked girls washing a red '77. Love that show...

Death Race and Shoot Em Up both have 2nd gen trans ams. I cant tell what year the one in death race is because of all the "modifications" to keep it from getting shot up by .50 cal bullets and in Shoot Em Up it looks like a 75. Been a while since i've seen those.

i know it's been mentioned but "The Driver" with ryan o'neal has about 25 min. chase scene in it in a 75 or 76 t/a. good thing about the chase scene is it's in real time, not sped up which makes it look cartoonish, like some films do. i had this on tape and lent it to a friend of mine and havent seen it since. would love to watch it again. (rest of movie is pretty boring though) lol

Did anyone talk about the movie, "The Car"? I thought that had some modified t/a that got destroyed in the movie....at least I think that's the name of that old flick.
