That looks cool...

I just ordered a trunklid and 2 full coupe quarters from Ames.
Mine are too damaged to get them to an acceptable level.

I agree with other guys concerning the Rally II wheel.
I'm still very much on the fence about the wheels; either 15" rally II's with big tires or 17/18 wheels preferrably in a design which carries the Rally II theme.
I would like to get rid of this: Needs work though.

They do make a 17" Rally II wheel now, I like the look of them. Of coarse they came out with those after I already bought some other 18" wheels, go figure. Theres some pictures of cars with them on in the suspension section.

Besides the 17" Year One rally II's there's a new wheel out there which also looks a lot like the Rally II.
It's the US Mags Bandit wheel. 18"
There's a member with a 67 GTO on those 18's wheels
I like it just as much as the YO wheel.

Why is prw1784guns $880 bucks while prw178gun $220? Looks like the only item that is different is something called backspacing.

This car has been a total money pit.

If you like the RedLines - they make a radial reproduction.
They were not a factory option in 1970 (69 was last year) - BUT that doesn't mean the whole world stop producing them in 1969. I'm sure they could have still been bought for several years afterwards at local tire stores.

Black wall , White Line , Raised White Letter , were the choices for 70.

The white letters are repo'd in Goodyear and Firestone - but they are not radials.

All the repo tires are fairly expensive compared to Walmart and PepBoys.

14x6 Rally2 was the factory offering on 1970 GTO.
The build date (or buildsheet if you found one) of your car will determine which code wheel (JL / JT) - and which color center cap - if you want it by the numbers.

You can also find 14x7 and 15x7 Rally2's
Should be plenty of them near you within driving distance.

You could put poverty caps or hubcaps on your existing steel wheels.
What does the PHS Invoice or the buildsheet say it came with ?

It came with basic rims/caps. I purchased the car from the original owner in 1991 or 90.

I ordered some info from the pontiac historical group (errr something like that) years ago for the car. I'll dig it out and see. The company doing the work asked for anything I had with the car.

I'm not looking for a 100 point exact type muscle car. When the project started all I wanted was a nice cool driver type car. It just all got out of hand as it went along. I'm happy though. I'm told what I have is considered a resto mod.

There's no shortage of people that will tell you to keep Rally 2's on it, and while there is nothing wrong with that I am going to throw in my vote for larger modern wheels. I agree it is tough to find a set of aftermarket wheels that look like they belong on a '70 but its not impossible. That deep red paint you have screams for some nice large chrome wheels. Tastefully big wheels though, not ghetto. The larger billet rallys are a nice option as well. although I still think that color needs chrome. Good luck with the decision! Nice Car BTW!!
