Thumbs up Six Things We Miss In Drag Racing

Great brief to the point read mostly w captioned photos written by Thom Taylor, Hot Rod Blog

http://blogs.hotrod.com/six-things-w...#axzz2tJ6PKRJD

Quote:
Many things are no more, but some things lost can also be found. How poetic is that? In these days of spec racing and the humdrum interest it elicits, we look back on some of the things we miss that may or may not have a chance of returning to many forms of racing. Here, however, we’ll focus our steely eyes on the quarter mile. No, wait! What used to be the quarter mile and is now 1000-feet. Agree? Have others to add to the list? Give us your most heartfelt responses and let us commiserate together.

The NHRA has ruined drag racing. I cannot remember the last NHRA National event I attended because of those reasons and more. Now I only attend Nostalgia races, the March Meet being my favorite but I have also gone to the California Hot Rod Reunion as well as the National Hot Rod Reunion. Being around "real" racers who do it for love and being able to get up close and personal with racers and cars is great. Diversity? Plenty of that! Corporate BS? None of that. The NHRA is going to ruin Nostalgia racing as well at some point though.

Good thread! this stuff is why I don't bother to watch drags on TV. My favorite stuff is the 9 to 13 second cars anymore.

Old school vintage stuff, lol. Got this video from a buddy, this track is like 5 minutes from my house, but no longer exsists, I would guess like many race tracks that have got shut down to Population.

Even tho the pro stock bikes are called Harley, Suzuki etc. there are no actual Harley, Suzuki parts on the bike. Kinda like nascar's Fords, Chevys, etc. all have the same body, just the decals differ. Seems all of the top tier racing has gone IROC.
Enjoy the local 1/8th track, all types, anything goes, interesting cars.
