Hi all, still working on my front end rebuild- brake conversion, suspension and steering.
I had the steering box rebuilt and I believe everything is lined up to go back in. I know the steering has to be straight in relation to the arm and centerlink and steering wheel. I dont think it matters of the exact location to slide on the new rag joint to the spline as long as the wheel is straight, correct? or is there something else to think about. I hate doing things over. thanks for any help. Neil O'

I was under the impression the spline on the box and the joint are keyed, like there's one spline missing to make it go on only one way. I know power boxes are like that.

If you did the whole front suspension, then you basically just have to rough it, and when you go to get it aligned, they can correct the position of the steering wheel.

Ok, well, the idler arm and the steering arm need to be parallel to each other, and you should be good. That gives you a 50/50 chance of attaching the column side correctly, to allow for proper operation of the cancel cam for the turn signals.

Other than that, you could look at the service manual, but all the 'generic' pics I've seen show the missing spline.
