Thank you. I needed to know it quick, and I didn't have time to look it up. I knew somebody here would get me the answer right away!!

Thanks.

Unless it was sold new in California. That carb is 7040570.

Where can I find a date coded 7040570 carb for my '70 Judge?

I think you will find them to be hard to locate. I am sure someone has one available-for a price.

To properly hook up, you will need the additional hoses and charcoal canister that was part of that deal. I also believe there is a valve near the gas tank that tied it all together.

I have attached a photo of the charcoal canister as used in my 70 Judge. Built in Fremont and sold at Bob Longpre Pontiac in Westminister, CA.

Looks like it was a $36.86 required option as shown on the window sticker I have.

My car was sold in Michigan, so I won't need that canister.

And yes, these carbs are hard to find.

I would think you need the 7040270 carb then. The 7040570 has a provision for hooking up to the canister. Without the canister, then you would have to plug the port coming out of the carb. Don't know if that would affect driveability or not?

You are correct. Typo on my part.

7040270 carbs seem to demand outrageous money. I need one for my January build car, but don't even want to look because of the cost.

Yes, they are expensive. I still have the original carb on the original engine on my '70 Judge. It is going to need a rebuild soon, so I am looking for a backup.

273 (4 speed) carbs bring more $$$ but neither are cheap.
