Default Valley Pan PCV Valve with MR1 Block

Had to use an aftermarket sheet aluminum valley pan to clear the ribs with the new block. An older one I got from Butler a few years back. Having trouble with the PCV valve sucking oil. It has a baffle in the aluminum tube but not enough as oil is getting by What is the fix for this? Can you install another baffle on the underside of the valley pan? Move the PCV valve to the valve cover. Is there a better valley pan that will fit the MR1 block and not suck oil.

Mighty mouse PCV can with Morose breathers fixed mine. Each breather plumbed to the can and the PCV in the can to the back of the intake. Problem solved and I'm autoXing.

I tried running a Tomahawk valley pan on a MR-1 with the PCV in the stock location and it sucked oil too. Am going to try it in the valve cover with a baffle and a catch can like Nicks67GTO.
The Tomahawk pan needed a bit of massaging to fit over the ribs.

Good to know it's not just me with this problem. Lol. Mine is a Tomahawk pan on a stock 400 block 433 but I'm in and out of the throttle 3500-6500 a lot while autoXing and the problem was found on a high rpm chicane followed by a big brake zone into a big sweeping right hand carousel turn where it immediately looked like I sprayed a field for bugs mid way through lol

Whose valley pan and how many holes in the bottom? I had a KRE that only had 3 holes that worked fine no oil sucking on my roller 455 block even when driven on the street. Now the Butler one is thicker but has a bunch of holes in the bottom and I cna not get it to not suck oil and look like I am fogging for mosquitoes. Tried a taller tube, baffled grommet-still sucked oil. One trail I ran in the valve cover and it seemed to do OK with a baffled grommet.

Older Butler valley pan, likely 10 years old or so. Has one baffle plate pressed into the tube. The baffle plate has two slits in the plate and is bent a bit to allow for air movement up through the tube.

Any issue with the intake port rail hitting the pan? Every Sheetmetal one I bought I have had to grind down to clear, barely any room to seal.

I do not recall any grinding on mine. No leaks, I do not run a pcv either.

Ive used the one from bop engineering and worked good on a stock block. Ive since pluged the hole with a freeze plug and use header evacs now. Its a good 1/8" thick

I think the problem with trying to run a pcv in the valley pan with a MR-1 block is the extra ribbing/reinforcement they have. A lot of oil lays in that area compared to an open stock block that lets oil drain back without pooling. Even the stock type baffled valley pan pulled oil.

So far a cheap baffled twist-on oil fill cap with a pcv valve mounted in it running through a catch can is keeping the oil out.

Sorry about the pics, the glare in my garage this morning was bad. I tried to shield it off the radiator shroud with my hand.

-Mighty Mouse PCV canister
-Moroso sealed breathers with the stainless steel filtering
-8an lines
-PCV from can to the back of the intake

Oil sucking problem solved

I had that problem with a customers engine years ago. I put a restrictor in the hose going to the pcv valve and put breathers in both valve covers.
