Default WIDE MGB: Sawed-In-Half 1966

Gets 535 HP Supercharged Water-Methanol Injected V8

Yeah, I know. It's not a Pontiac. But for everyone that has taken their Pontiac completely apart and put it back together again.... eat your heart out when you watch the video. Remember the song.. "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"? Well, you haven't even come close to what Jim has done. He needs to be in a Mechanics Hall of Fame. And that's no joke.
Enjoy.

I believe the guy who built that car is a regular over on the Grassroots Motorsports board, I think there's a build thread somewhere on their forums. He has it up for sale: https://www.widemgb.com

Very Cool Car.

Reminds me of the "widened" Ford Cobra Race car that was a "one of a kind- stretched width" aluminum body.
(modified by a Fabrication Shop in the Livonia Michigan area).

The car was owned by a Ford Director, Chris Theodore.

They were still working on the "widening" when I retired in 2016. That car is next to my name above.

VERY COOL MGB. Thanks GT182.

Yeah Stuart, he wants 200,000 for it. I sent him and email. The thing is Jim did it all by himself. And made the tools he needed all by himself. I say he needs to be in a Mechanics Hall of Fame. I watched the video twice as I couldn't believe what I was seeing. When I owned my 66 MGB back in 72, I never even thought of doing what he did, nor would I even try today. His is basicly built from scratch. There isn't much of an MGB still there. It's mostly Corvette and what he fabricated.

The widened Cobra Tom is talking about is being done by Ford, not by Chris Theodore himself.

Actually a Prototype Shop called Technosports in Livonia Michigan and has nothing to do with Ford Engineering.
Theodore, a Group VP bought the car, and all of the work is being done out of his pocket. Sorry I was not clear on that deal.

The only similarity is that both vehicles were widened and I posted a picture of Chris Theodore's car.

But a tremendous effort is required in both cases.

Hats off to Jim for his skills building and modifying the car.

I saw that video last month and was blown away by the man's skill and intelligence. A truly brilliant, gifted, and humble guy. UNREAL. I tend to admire people who can do something I have no hope of doing. And I've been an automotive tech for over 40 years.
Very cool indeed!!

Yeah, the car is super cool. But what got my attention, beside the MGB, was him making all the tools he needed to build it. He bought nothing, probably because they had never been made... parts and tools. Super amazing all around even with all of the Corvette parts.

I even got emails from Jim and Nicole thanking me for my comments. That was a shock, but a good one.

A couple of things jumped out: the car's proportions were still right on the money. It didn't look awkward like so many customs. A non-car person would probably not notice it or wonder what was wrong/different. And yeah---the gent making his tools along the way. Unreal. If the world was full of guys like this, there would be no problems anyplace!!
