WOW!!!...those photographs of that SR motor is awesome!!..very cool documentation of a SR motor...interesting how the motors were not painted (although it makes sense)...SR to me is fine...it is brand new GM or it was when it was replaced most likely...I would take new N.O.S. SR over used anytime...I believe the negative connotations with SR has to due with guys thinking of SR engines not originally done at a dealership under warranty...but on the other hand your example is a new SR motor being utilized on your car...and that's fantastic as that is brand new!!!....N.O.S. SR new beats used anytime!!!..I have a SR motor that was replaced under warranty so its intresting to now know what it looked like when it came in and they were doing the work...now I wonder how dealers painted the blocks or heads when they had to do warranty installation...did they have rattle can engine paint from GM??...like how GM sold brake fluid, antifreeze etc....cool stuff, thanks!!....awhile back on E-BAY someone was selling a N.O.S 455 SR block..if I had money I would buy up all these parts as it would be cool to have as spare parts!...again awesome stuff and all the best on your resto!!!

Default 455 4bolt

Thanks... I worked on buying it for awhile,, he didn't want to sell, and I waiting on scratch to buy it.
I am real happy, nice he gave me nos 455 crank too, has ink stamp part #still..
There was one on evilbay, a 455 nos block, no crank, I think asking $2800, but it was a 2bolt.

the front fender would have been an easy fix during the resto. process and there are other issues/details to correct as well......

If you visit RK motors in Charlotte, or go online, everything has a big ticket hanging on it. They are no different than any other classic or muscle car dealer. They all give theirself plenty of room to negotiate. I visted two different places on vacation out west while the women went shopping. I was astonished at the asking prices. That car in Phoenix would be mid 70's. They know how to get you up so they can drop to a price where they put money in their pocket. I saw three things not correct as soon as I looked at it. This isn't the first time its hit ebay. Us guys know what we are looking at on our birds. Most people who buy don't. It kills me to see a clone 69' TA sell for within $5k of the real deal. We know how hard it is to find correct GM OEM parts. So do the dealers! That don't stop them from selling something that they know is not 100%. They will always tell you later after the sell...we're not the experts, we were told it was all correct when we recieved the car. It's only our job to sell, it is the buyers responsibility to do his/her homework.

"Let the buyer beware" never rang more true.

Just my observation.

I received my correct date coded (EB) Master Cylinder back today after its rebuild. Its not perfect but looks pretty darn good and better then those repops. I might have to machine the bare surfaces since that rough area bugs me and then of course re-stamp.
Thoughts??

Trying to get things sorted out before the motor returns sometime Aug/Sept.

Who did your rebuild? My original MC needs a sleeve due to some pitting in the main bore. I think White Post in Virginia will do this but have not called them yet. Suggestions?

giles, You are correct guessing White Post. They do a nice complete job however that milled look is gone due to blasting in the prep. Reviewing options to replicate the factory mill look and loosing the original stamping is another topic.
Highly recommend them for the money!

Default EB Master Cyl

Here are some pictures of a original 72 'EB' m/c. There is a very small '18' also stamped besides the 'EB'. I could no see it until I took a soft brass brush to get the rust off. Anyone see this before?

Yep. Here's a '71 EB with a faintly stamped #10.

Thumbs up

nice rare oTAKI 72 T/A kit here. love these Big 1:12th scale model's. this one looks to be very complete in the shrink and ready to build. box art is awesome on these things, even though it shows 71 mesh grills, they actually are the 72 elongated honeycomb style.....
