I buy the one owner deal, but the survivor statement " NOT ". A repaint and an engine rebiuld is not the way it left the factory. I like the car , but the price seems a little high. JMO. It would look good at my house, but I just bought a new toy.......

For sure that was one, but it's got a long list of other assets, too!

From the vintage, pre-repaint pics, it looks like the car may have never had a nose bird?

Super neat car and combo.
That's how I took his ad, too. And yes, it's very common with the folks of Quebec, especially the older ones, for English to be a very distant second language.

I guess I'm just a cynical old curmudgeon. :-)

If it is real, it is a beautiful car with great history.

He says in the ad it is "licensed in the US". The big problem is this: unless it is properly registered in the United States currently, and has a Florida registration (where he says it is located), the car will have to go back to Canada and then through the proper Customs procedures to legally acquire the paperwork to return to the US for registration. I went through all sorts of insanity with NJ DMV and Customs when I brought the black Formula back in 2012 from British Columbia.

I know the owner and car...it is legit and a very nice car. One of the previous owners on my HO saw the car and met the owner at a car show last year in Ft. Meyers. He gave me Renald's contact info and we conversed quite a bit about the similarities and differences between our cars. His English is as was posted, very French Canadian. He winters in Naples where he keeps the car. He told me he raced in NHRA stock class (E or F S/A) for a couple years shortly after buying it and the the rebuild he mentions was the one the transformed it into stock class status and hasn't been rebuilt since. The cloth sandalwood is really rare and looks great with Canyon Copper. He really ordered it right with the spoiler and RA.

Did he keep the parts when he butchered the air cleaner assy? Or the other original parts that have been replaced? What would a realistic price be?

Mike, It was ordered with the TA Handling Package that came with the 15x7 Honeycombs...so no steelies and dog dishes. I saw in my previous post that I said cloth interior, I meant sandalwood comfortweave vinyl. Renald posted a nice picture of the car at the dragstrip in 1972.

Mike, not sure about the missing parts. I never noticed the flapper doors and thermactors are missing, probably for its short stint in class racing. Too bad it wasn't ordered with the M-22 4 speed, then it would be worth more. I don't think 85k is realistic, maybe 50k at the most.

I missed that Dennis. Ride and handling sure adds to the coolness too. Honeys too.

I'm thinking it's a 60k car cool.

4 speed would add to that. 65-70. Not a 85k unless it's a 1000 pointer. Imho

I have a question. On a 71 TA, Where does the power wire for the shaker scoop solenoids originate at. I don't see a place in the fuse block for this. All my fuses are good. Is it tied into another circuit? I recently lost the positive power on the wiring at the shaker solenoids. I haven't traced the wires past the firewall where does it run and terminate at under the dash? Thanks in advance for any help.

Happy New Year to the 455 HO Forum!

What better way to celebrate the new year than with a report on a '72 TA 455HO YE coded dyno session from last week!

This is a Jim Robertson (RACE Engineering) built engine. Jim is a member here on the forums, and a true round port scientist! He can make big horsepower out these great engines.

The specifications (constraints in his mind) I give Jim is to maintain a stock appearing look, so concour restorations can be completed without addition of external performance equipment, so all work is done on the internals. There are other posts on this thread that explain in detail some of Jim's mod's, so I'm just posting the results here.

I have a thread on the '72 TA automatic column shift 'Sister' that this engine is from. I'll be posting more information on the engine build there. It's a colorful story for sure. Here's a link to the thread:

http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...hlight=sniffed

This is my second engine to be built by Jim. The results here are extremely similar to the '72 TA WD that we dyno'd in 2013. Those results are posted on page 93 of this thread.

In addition to recording the results of the performance of the YE, we also did some experimentation with exhaust equipment testing OEM manifolds, Hooker Super Comp. headers and the infamous Ron Watt Tribal Tri Y headers. Those results will be posted in a new thread on the forums in the coming days.

Finally, results:
7042270 carb with CE rods (CR is stock but the engine ran lean so CE's helped by about 10HP)
38 degrees BTDC timing
Horsepower: 475 HP Torque: 541 ft-lbs
Enjoy!

Just noticed this one on eBay. Looks a lot like the car that just sold at Barrett Jackson but not the same car. Anyone have any info on this one?
